Another newbie

Hey folks, just a line or two from a site newbie - glad to find such a forum exists as I've taken a fair of slagging for buying an Almera. Doesn't bother me that much as the smile will hopefully be wiped off their faces before too long. As my name suggests, I have a few ideas to subtely change both the look & performance of the car - without giving too many clues. ;)

:welcome: to the club Sleepy.

I love getting stick for having a "pipe and slippers" type of car, it just shows me they dont know bugger all about cars.

Looking forward to seeing what you do to it.

which model almera you got? i drive a 1.4, cant get much more pipe and slippers than that :D

welcome to the aoc!

Which model ?

Thanks for the welcome guys, mine's a 1.8 SXE 3-dr. Already got a K&N filter with a Remus back box fitted, but replacing the mid-section pipe too as it's still too quiet - no character, lol. Cat's staying in for the MOT, but a front strut brace and a set of 16' or 17' multi-spokes are next. :sinister:

That'd suffice I think :)
Hahaa!
Is that your plan then?
Joe

That's what I'd like to do - but I'm checking out the suitability of a Rotrex type 'charger and how much it would really cost. One thing's for sure, it won't be cheap. If it's not viable, then the thinking cap goes back on :D

Hi Andy, I take it you're somewhere in the Aberdeen to Elgin zone ? Think I've seen your car around - there's no mistaking it in that colour

Welcome along to the club lad. I'd dreamt of gettin a turbo or supercharger for my N16 can't wait to see how this progresses....

Just an update on the supercharger enquiry - spoke to the powers that be & they reckon it's not a problem. They'll fit a Rotrex 'charger, intercooler & piping, re-map the ECU with a piggy-back and dyno the car for the finale. Expected results are in the 170 bhp area with a whacking increase in torque right through the range  Only downsides are that it'll cost £4.5k and includes a 900 mile round trip ! Might just be worth it tho' :D What appeals to me most tho' is keeping the car relatively standard looking but having a unique install under the bonnet. Best I save even harder - not easy in the current climate !
