I've just searched for this thread and was wondering - aren't HID conversion kits not illegal?

I read somewhere that, apart from manufacturers like BMW, Merc, Porsche etc who have them fitted as standard, you cant use these kits on the open road?

Maybe a misread but could somebody clarify? Cos my bulbs are pish... :roll:

Technically speaking they are illegal on cars that don't have them out of the factory because cars that have them fitted out of the factory have headlight washers and have a sensor in the suspension to detect pitch,when too high or too low a pitch is detected the headlights have a self levelling system to adjust them automatically!

i've just done exactly the same thing mate, id change the sidelights back to standard but the wirings far too tempremental and i dont think it'd handle the trauma of changing them again, one of the sidelights comes on and off as it is.
