Buying 1998 phase 2 's sport' 3 door almera

Uh oh, insurance thread alert.

Post code, age, experience, employment, points, status, ownership, homeowner, etc etc all play a part.

I dont know. Insurance companies calculate premiums on what they think they can get out of your wallet. Theres no rhyme or reason to it, pure guesswork.

Mr Edwardo. I too agree with insurance threads thing but this was actually a good comparison!

All details exactly the same as he lives on the same street and works at the same place! The only difference on the quotes was name and DOB!

Lol fair enough then.

Don't forget stats on types of cars. I.e. 1.3 starlet is more to insure than a 1.3 micra.

all i know is 2300 is far too much to pay for insurance :P

But then again, you could do the same quote again tomorrow and get completely different figures.

£1400 was too much for him too, hence he bought a 206 and not my almera.

Insurance in Ireland changed last Christmas so that women drivers would not get cheaper insurance because they were women. Insurance firms now have come up with other things to raise the price of male drivers insurance again, as males don't cause accidents as often but when they do there usually worse accidents.

If you go as a named driver on your dads policy you won't earn any NCB.
Plus your father could lose his NCB if you made a claim or had a claim made against you.

Wheels is just personal preference if you like the look of 17's then put them on.
Bare in the mind the car handles best when left alone.
I would imagine 17's on an Almera would make the ride unbearable but each to their own.
Mine is stock with 15's and the ride is harsh with LP tires and bigger rim I would imagine its back breaking.

A modified car will never get the value its worth as stock. Sounds like I'm having a rant but I'm not just trying to put a few points towards your good self.
There's no point in spending a few thousand pounds on looks when the 1.1 fiesta at the traffic lights leaves you behind and its running stock parts !

Oh god no ! theres no chance in the world im gonna slip into the all show no go category :L

Nice to see the younger generation aren't bothered about their dads policy lol.

Even after 3 years driving on your dads policy your own insurance will be just as high as a new driver.
Some companies might offer a 10% discount to get you on the books.

Might be worth paying the 2k just to get some NCB behind you.
