camshaft sensors

hi
i have almera 1.5s 53 plate there are two camshaft sensors on engine are these both identical as if i disconeect the bottom one the car still starts but it i disconnect the top one it doesnt even when i swap the sensors over the car does not start this is what is coming up on the diagnostics says camshaft sensor fault .

One is camshaft and one is crankshaft.

On the phase 2s I believe the sensors are quite a common failure, but id be checking the timing chain tensioner first to see if the chain need replacing.

Don't mind simcard, he's just a very passionate chap. He's right though.

Is that price including labour?!

I have rang a few local garages and most of them won't do timing chains but i have managed to find one that will do it for £525 incl labour and vat. thanks for the replies great site.

Not sure where you are but if that falls through then Billcar engineering would be a good bet. They know Nissan chains well and fit many for the Navara. I'm sure a QG would be no bother.
