Cleaning the MAF

Oh ryte that is sorted then! We have done this a few weeks ago. The main difference i noticed was my choke on a cold morning would be considerably higher than just 1000rpm it would go upto near 1500 rpm which was of help as it warmed up quicker! Other than that I am not sure of any other difference lol Thanks alot guys.

just had a look at mine...looks brand spanking new...gave it a quick clean anyway, had to dribble the cleaner on though, it was coming out of the can at a ridiculously high pressure

Cleaned mine on the Pulsar whn I first got it and again not long after fitting the HKS Poison Mushroom!
If you fit an aftermarket filter like HKS or Pipercross some of the oil which the filter foam comes coated in, will get sucked in and stuck to the MAF which in turn can get clogged up with fine dust so it's always a good idea to give it a clean from time to time with something which breaks down the oil like carb cleaner.

Update: Gave this another go the other day after noticing that my TB was filthy (cleaned and polished that as well), seems to have a bit more response and also appears to have raised my idle from about 750rpm to 900rpm?

Think you'll have trouble finding it because it doesn't have one i don't think

Course it does...

mfthechef: if you look in the throttle body, on the left hand side you'll see a small wire in a seperate little bit. That's the MAF.

Still waiting for the manual from Amazon so need to ask
On my R reg 1.4 si is the MAF through the mesh in the throttle housing.
She`s a bit sluggish and I have to do a 300 mile round trip tomorrow.
Anyway that is where i have sprayed the carb cleaner. There maybe a slight difference
in performance but not much.

Cheers

For GA models unscrew the airbox, it's under there down the thin tube the airbox sit's on. You'll see 3 small wires. Ta da

p.s if someone has a pic of a GA engine i'll show you.
