Low torque for the BHP they produce. For the size of engine and compared to a normal N/A engine of the same size, the torque figures are about the same.

i have a type-R and yes they are not stupidly fast as in WRX sti league, evo's etc... they have been compared by the media in the past with seat Leon R's mini cooper S, golf GTi etc... but they are faster than an a GTi.

now i have the advantage here of having driven and owned both cars & my GTi was modded, my type-R is standard.
now both cars have there advantages and disadvantages over each other, my type-R will out accelerate my GTi in a straight line no questions asked (like for like) but in the instance mentioned in the first post he was 4 up inc driver and you are solo with a stripped out almera so that probably explains your question. as thats alot of extra weight to pull.
i must say my GTi was lowered on 18"'s & would out handle my standard CTR.
so if you want to have some real fun with each other take it to the twisty's ;)

haha mad!! i love the Civic Type R, I was gutted when my sis's partner got rid of it! You can tell its faster than the GTi, no contest lol!!
 
Thread has been `trimmed` of stupidness.

A purely speed modified Almera is faster than standard and a modified CTR. i`ve beat both on the track and on the 1/4 mile run. I`m not the first to beat a CTR on the 1/4 either.

i wouldnt agree to that purely due to the mods being down to the persons budget and the mods/knowledge being available and used.
we all know if you throw enough money at a car it can do pritty much anything you like.

i'm going to stop reading this thread as its going to go forever... :lol:

JWT S3 cams, underdrive crank and water pump pulley, competition clutch lightweight flywheel with 4 puck racing clutch, enlarged/polished throttle body with custom intake, Apexi air filter with cold air pipe, HotShot Gen5 ceramic coated header, decat, 2.25" exhaust, standard ECU, Nismo fuel pressure regulator.......plus a stripped interior with no A/C or sunroof.

I`ve done a PB of 14.4, which is faster than a standard Subaru WRX and beaten two during a session a Elvington.
 
rowdy is my meera idol :D lol. Oh found out previous owner had put in lightened flywheel and nismo fuel pressure reg.
