DIY splitter!..

But the only way that will become an ankle breaker/slicer....is if you run someone over. Last of their problems I'd imagine.

I know its not legal officer, but it will only hurt someone if I run them over, and if that happens my splitter hurting their ankles is the least of their problems....

This place really amazes me sometimes

Phil, are you usinf an exhaust system that is altered, modified or differs in any way from standard specification in terms of noise and/or emissions?

Emmisions with the 16ve are better than standard, and the car is still as it was when it passed the mot 3 weeks back

How about yours?

Thats not the point. If you're using an altered or modified exhaust system on a public road you're commiting an offence under the construction and use regs, offence code CU16.

Not really like putting some rotating chainsaws on the front of your car is it. I'm sure you're this anal all the time just to be awkward.

CU16 is for charging people that slap a stock exhaust on for mot then a 3" system with no cat the day after. My exhaust has 2 silencers and a cat, just like the stock system had. Plus it passed the noise regs for the mot.

So again how about yours?

The point is phil, you CAN get a CU16 ticket if the exhaust is modified regardless if its too loud or not. Simple. End of. I had a 30 minute arguement with the copper debating the issue.

Probably shouldn't say this, but there's no way on this earth that my car should ever pass another MOT given whats been done to it. But as long as it does and I don't run anyone over and remove their ankles with my splitter and face with my chavvy (soon to be) bonnet vent, I don't really care tbh.

Anyway, the splitter..!

I could make more but the plastic is like £50 for a 200x100 sheet so doubt many people would be interested. Wish I had left it a bit bigger now too for more function :(

Also, did you guys see that episode of Top gear where they tried to make a Renault thing go around their track as fast as an Evo? IIRC, adding the splitter took a few seconds of its lap time.

Supposedly one of the best things you can do for the aerodynamics of a car. Less air going under te car and actual downforce (all be it small).

Wonder how dreadful a rear diffuser would look?! Haha!!

Yeah sorting the aero under a car can have a massive effect, you just need to look at the underside of the likes of merc cars from the mid 90's onwards, and all of the latest hybrid and electric cars to see what kind of thing works. The main problem the mera's have with a rear diffuser is encapsulating the beam and the gap between the beam and the fuel tank, but every little helps

Combine it with a full undertray and you'll be onto a winner. Otherwise an air dam would be the best option.
