Door speaker size

yeah they will fit and they will be very loud not too sure about quality thought and im not sure about if it will clear the window when it comes down

Cheers guys for all the help, I will pop in some 6.5" comps in the front. Does anyone have a colour chart for the speaker cables (front/back colour) I really don't like having to cut the original cable and still not sure on that flat cable behind the doors lol

Thanks again

Run some new wires mate it it does not take that long compaired to the N15's the grommet pops out of the N16's and its just a matter of feeding the cables. I got aprox 12/14 awg speaker wires on my front doors. its not that hard to run

if you want to use orignal speaker cables get a multi meter and have it reading on voltage set to 2 volts. then splice into the speaker cables and turn the radio on and test the + and - using the multi meter. if it reads 0.121 or something like that then the + is + if it reads -0.121 or something like that then the - is + and the + is -.

make sure you solder the wires and wrap black tape around the orignal speaker wires.

also you can take out the head unit and have a look on the back and the colours should match up with the wires in the door.

Darren any idea how I can run some new speaker wire in my N15 without drilling holes?

only way is to drill holes if not you can take the connector block out and see if there are some missing pins and if there are you can drill out a few so it does not interfere with the standard eclectics. but I think the best way is to drill a new hole for new speaker wire.

not sure if you were commenting on my post but shallow 8" mids do fit into the mera doors with custom mdf rings

im running a set of morel wr8's with 250wrms on tap per side

horns are the next thing!

but for simplicity stick with some 6.5" components, take the doors off and drill new holes, make sure you use grommits to prevent the wires from getting damaged

not this kind of grommit

never heard of 8" sounding that well to be honest. if different between SPL and sound quality you do not need that much RMS for sound quality. I a 2x90RMS amp powering the door speakers and the speakers are rated at 250RMS I think not 100% sure but I know it sounds quality for my liking.

front door speakers = 6x4's

Sorry for dragging up a vintage thread. I was looking for info on the removeable plates in the front door of my 3dr N15, hoping I could just drop some standard 6" speakers in.

After reading this tho....obviously I can't. The factory fit fronts are size 6"x4"...which I remember from my old primera P10 days...god rest its soul.

They are usually more expensive than std sizes but there are lots of stockists on the net, and fleabay.

TBH i'd rather spend the extra £20 and get some 6x4's with a decent RMS rating and freq response than build a housing out of MDF.

currently on the 'bay:
JVC CS-V4625 - Custom Fit 6 x 4inch Full-range speakers
6 x 4inch Full-range speaker system
290W Max Power
55W Nom. Music Power
» • Frequency Response: 28Hz-25,000Hz
Buy It Now price: £20.00

55w RMS'll do for me :)

As for the std 'ribbon cable' type wiring..just stick some spade connectors in the end, attached to normal wires.

Edit: I just bought them myself, lowcostcaraudio.co.uk has em too.

cheers, fitz
