In all seriousness we need to know the engine your talking about, if your thinking of a gti engine in whatever form i would imagine the 1.4 box and clutch would need to be replaced with a gti box/clutch
You best bet would to buy a body buggerd gti and get the engine, gearbox, clutch, loom and ecu and transplant the whole lot into your car
Or better still buy a gti, unless you are trying to to the same as Joe with a 5 door gti
If you talking about a different engine from a different car, you would take all the gubins from that and put in your MERA

yeah the 1.6 engine will go right in place of the 1.4 engine.
1.6 box has longer lower ratios and shorter 5th i believe so pulls up hills in 5th wayyyyyyy better than a 1.4 where you floor it and the car actually loses speed until you change down lol
from what i remember the 1.4 box 1st gear goes to 33mph, 2nd 58mph. 1.6 box 1st gear goes to 39mph, 2nd gear 62mph.
Prob not worth changing the gear box aswell though as yourll need 1.6 driveshafts also
Not sure on the clutch side of things, dale may be able to help you as i sold him a 1.6 flywheel but cant remember now if he used if with a 1.4 or 1.6 gearbox.
