engine upgrade

yeap considering stu i think was running just above standard gti power as the cams were iffy your sri suprised me!!

Spend a bit of money on a 1.6 and it will definately put a good smile on your face, not as much as a gti would but we all have to be patient until insurance can be afforded hence why ive still got a 1.6 lol

hahaha you did pull away, cheers joe BUT i did have 106bhp and 163lbft of torque from the fucked up mapping from perfect touch, grrrrr, got a dyno to prove it too! hehe
not for long tho mate, not for long hehehe :sinister:
i reckon its all about weight tho paul, as you gutted your motor proper like,
and you still have a lot lighter engine too, thats why dales it rapid, weighs fuck all but only got about a standard gti power!!!
:)

omg GA engine are not light lol, tryed picking one up? its cast iron ha

Mine wasnt stripped and still had the 17s on when i did that video, hmm 8k miles ago, oh the memories LOL

there alot lighter than an SR20, i always thought the SR20's were light, but had a GA14 and SR20 next to each other in the garage, GA14 was moveable by yourself, SR20 is a pain to move around.

I've gotta say, swapping a GA16 in seems mighty pointless. It'll push your insurance sky high, a lot higher than it would be if you just bought a 1.6 'Mera...

cheers, thats really suprised me though. i shall remember ha

why would it send the insurance sky high?

As it's classed as a modification. I know that to you and me it'll be the same as a 1.6 Almera but insurance companies will look at it from a different POV and see it as an extreme modification and subsequently up the premium substantially.

Just do the swap and dont say anything at all, if for some reason your car was inspected then just plead ignorance. The engines look exactly the same anyway.

The head gasket went on my 1.4 so I dropped and 1.6 in and ran it for half a year before I got rid and never declared it, nobody was any the wiser.

Its the same as having a GTi and dropping an SR20VE in it, the engine looks the same so who's gunna know, I remember Paul _D_ GTi didnt declare his VE when he had it in for about a year.
