gti vs say 1.4 fuel consumption

depends how you drive it.

Driving a 1.4 fast would take more fuel than driving a gti at the same pace.

Lots of different things to consider but most people get around 250 to a tank from a gti

oh right, if they still have the gti down the road in a month I think Il try and get it for a bit cheaper than its listed as £1500 is a bit in my opinion for a T reg

my gti sold for £1500 last month, fair price, depends on the condition though,

it will always cost more to run a GTi than a 1.4 if you cant justify it then the simple answer is dont

yeah although Id love a GTI I might wait another 2 years for my insurance to come down and my TS10 to be removed, hopefully then would be cheaper Id imagine

If you drive the GTi sensibly ie dont floor it at every chance the fuel consumption will be almost the same as a 1.4. I had a 1.4 action before the GTi and when driving normally there isnt much difference.
Ive done a few motorway trips on a full tank in the GTi and get around 380 normally 300+ out of it thats driving at above the limit only by a bit tho ;) Around towns etc its fine its when you try the heavy foot approach in 1-3rd gear your fuel goes bye bye.
Personally apart from that i havent notced much in the fuel diference.
as been said depends a lot how and where you drive and what mods you have id imagine.

3 miles a day and you are asking about fuel consumption

Buy a Honda Melody, they do about 500 miles to the gallon, fill it up once a year!

Only reason I asked was to win a arguement that the gti wouldnt cost me that much more to run than the 1.4. Well apart from tax.

I'm amazed at how good on fuel the GTi is compared to my 1.5 N16. I think its more to do with because you've got to rev the tits off a smaller engine to get it to actually go anywhere so more fuel consumed rather than just pottering about with some torques living under the bonnet!

However, in a 3 mile journy the car's not even getting time to warm up so your consumption is going to be WAAAAAAAAAANK.
