gti vs say 1.4 fuel consumption

well apparently fully comp with direct line on a 1.4 its I think and on the gti its

just checked and it is £432.60 for 1.4 fully

and £589.05 for gti fully comp. Got it wrong I guess

3 miles a day is not healthy for a car. Defo not for GTi.
Buy a GTi to have some excitement over the weekends but use a bicycle to get to work.

Just buy a GTi, you won't worry about the extra small charges your gonna be paying once you own it....push bike to work and back. And only use the GTi for social use.

Ive done a few motorway trips on a full tank in the GTi and get around 380 normally 300+ out of it thats driving at above the limit only by a bit tho ;)

What size is the tank in the GTI?

If it's only 45L you're getting better consumption than I do from a QG15 N16 :eek::D

I get a consistent 320-340 and thats with all kinds of driving. On a long trip I got 375. Its roughly 32-34mpg all the time

Quoting miles per tank is misleading as people fill up at different points on the fuel gauge and even if they did, the gauges aren't all as accurate as each other.

How many litres does it take to refill. Work out the mpg :)

Alex. They aren't bad quotes. How old are you ??

Im 23, been driving since 2005 and one conviction of a ts10 from 06, I think 2 years no claims at the moment 3 years in july.

What's wrong with 3 miles per day? I don't have to drive anywhere, ever. I just have a car because I like it and it's easier.

My works like 1/4 mile away and I drive. I just love cars.

GTi rapid 3 mile FTW.

That's really bad for the car. Any trip that doesn't get the engine up to temperature is bad for the engine, can damage engine bearings, cause head gasket failure, among other things! Driving 1/4 mile every day is really not a good idea.

I drive more than 1/4 mile a day, I use it for social stuff and what not, and drive it a lot for no reason on lanes etc just because I enjoy it.

I meant, I don't actually NEED car for work or anything, just have one. So driving a short distance, not lazy like some people suggest. Keep it up!

Just done 1450 miles this week, standard 1.4 N15; mixed motorway, town and hill (it was Scotland!!) driving, mainly fully loaded. fuel consumption was healthy 9.2 miles per litre, 50 litre tank gives range of nearly 460 miles, so if you're doing 250 on a tank, whatever mods you did must drink fuel like no tomorrow LOL.
Not bad for an 11 yr old car that cost me £560 a couple of months ago, well impressed.
