Has anybody used this at all?

Was thinking of doing the handles myself but I think my paint code is AR2 or something (cant find the codes thread that was in here, i think) but halfords dont have it in there book of manufacturers codes. Is it something else?

They say they can mix the paint to match the colour aswell, is it worth it? May save money rather than paying someone else!

I wouldn't trust Halfords paints, the two times I have used them the have been either slightly out or their list isn't correct. Go down to your local motor factors, give them your vin number and they should be able to get the right colour paint - maybe cheaper than Halfords.

Duno about Halfords paint , but the Clear Laquer was shite , even after 5mins shaking it kept on spraying slightly lumpy.

Although if you can get the Colour Code , Car model / make / year / extention then i could get you a aerosol can from MAJ round the corner for a tenner. Its whats being used to paint me entire car & from what ive seen always spot on stuff. Then again i dunno how much halfords charge , if its only £5 per can or summat then ur payin for quality / accuracy really.

Remember you gotta clean the area with Panel Cleaner before painting , although you might need Plasticiser since the handles arnt metal

i think it will look odd, especially with the black bump strip, my mate tried to do his handles and wing mirrors and you so could tell!!!

juBz

The bodyshops use a 2 pack method of painting , so if its done using a different method (namely aerosol with aerosol Laquer) it will look slightly different :(

i used halfords paint on my center console and it was cool, dunno about the colour difference cos i cant really tell but the paint seemed ok.

I used halfords paint - they mixed it there for me.

Used it on all the interior, and the grill, headlamp protectors and door strips and handles when i had them on.

No complaints about it.

Ooh not impressed with this paint myself its nasty stuff to be honest, its just my opinion but I have used it on external plastic before and its crap and thin aswell. Personally not tried it on internal stuff, but to be honest it doesnt weather well externally mate. The best stuff I've found is Nissan actually, and yes its not cheap paint but as somebody else said you get quality for the price am affraid! ;)

my mate didnthave time to respray my rocker cover for me before JAE(it hadnt bonded well and had come away, used some other guy that time  ), so I thought I would just tidy it up and use some silver starburst halfrauds paint and clear laquar, it came out quite shitto be honest, saying thatI didnt spend long enough on it, something like 3 hours all in, which wasnt even long enougf to leave before the laquar, but Ive done that before and it hasnt come out that bad, so I do think they're a bit shit, the ends clog up too easy aswell

Ok cheers guys I think the verdict is a NO. Gonna find out some prices for 'pro' spray job, if its a bit much still could try myself and if its a fuck up pay someone to fix it! lol

Cheers

halfords r shit there little paint code book says they do my colour yet when i asked for it the guy couldnt find it on his computer and told me he couldnt make it ure better of just getting hte paint from nissan if u DIY mine was pretty much a perfect match.

i got some paint from halfords before when i had a seat ibiza, and the match was awful, it was only for a toutchup where some scruffy b***ard had broke my window to try and nick my car by stickin sumthing in the side of the window near the frame and cracked the window, the paint is awful and i agree that the laquer is crap also, they cant match paint for anything. id go with nissan mate or get a pro job.....

Right if its a standard colour such as Red or Black you are after then use some smooth hammeraite mate. Just done a new paint job on a second rocker cover and its absolutely mint the finish. ;) only cost £4.90 from a motor factors and prepared the surface properly with hammerite undercoat before hand first, and obviously took an electric wire brush and sander to the alloy cover :D Absolutely gleaming now in Black. Ave now got the bug to spray everything a can in smooth hammerite now ;)

halfords metallic paint is crap. the flat stuff is alright. and i work for them. dont bother with mixed metallic paint. it doesn't layer right.
the lacquer i find is alright now. just needs a very good shake.

Quote on Spray Job

Just had a quote from only place in 4 i've tried that will do it. I tried Nissan, they dont do bodywork in Sheffield, they recommended Car Clinic so asked them and they only do insurance claims, so they recommended National and they charge £25 for the quote which then comes off the price of the work if you go for it! So good old yellow pages brought me Auto Body Styling and that took me an hour to find but this is the price they gave:

For the handles and rear lights it would be £150 and take less than a day. Thats all 4 handles left on the car and around the lights on the back (if they take them off to do it its extra £75)

For delocking its £275 and has to be in for 2 days. I cant do without my car for 2 days!!!

Now when I left I wasnt sure if that was on its own or with the handles aswell. Does this sound like all the jobs or just de-locking?

Any body know if I can get a silver paint for rocker cover? Currently black writing and want silver for it but halfords dont do the silver rocker cover paint. Didnt want to spend much as its only for a small part.

Cheers

Halfrauds paint and Lacquer might be pants but Ive been using their primer and Ive had no problems. Its actually quite good, dries real fast too. The nozzle's crap though, its very good without the nozzle.

i bought some for fatdave1tons spolier and the guy didnt mix it with the right additive, so when i sprayed it was light green, rang up to complain and the guy was adament he was right, anyways i made him mix it again and it low and behold, he had used a light green,
what got me more was that he said when i mixed it the first time i thought it was a bit light for a nissan, did he not think to ask me if it was right, no! just coz im a lass!
just dont but it from s/s halfords and you may be ok

wow bringing up an old thread lol. halfords is ok thought exspensive, aslong as you dont ask for help or need the workers to do anything for you like mix the paint
