Lot of work for only 165bhp...what was it at the wheels?

Welcome anyway...good to see someone tuning the GTi.

ive got 145whp with the cat on
next spring im doing my head again 280 cams pullys injectors etc n lots of mapping

Welcome along Stu.

145whp is pretty impressive on std cams. A decat should see 2-3whp and i wouldn`t like to guess what the cams may yield.

You got a oil temp gauge fitted? did the oil cooler make alot of difference to the temp?.......where`s it routed from?

Ian.

Ahh, that's a good whp figure. You've pretty much done/doing everything Im planning. Wil be good to see what results you get.

mocal 10 row oil cooler

no i havent got a oil temp gauge i go by the engine temp gauge, it drops to 1/4 when driving about 50mph+ its routed from the oil filter using a sandwich plate the whole kit costs 150 and took me around 4-5 hours to fit, with a few problems on the way, but got there in the end, and a 10 row fits perefectly in the front bumper! would recommend it to and gti owner

to gti kurt

It was at Shakespeare mate....That one run I noticed the car launch so much better than all the others...I got really bad wheel hop, and I knew it was quick....and the fact I left a Golf 4motion for dead :P

I've done a few runs at santa pod..15.4 was my best, but I had a standard clutch and flywheel when I did that run.

What's your best time?

so far my best time is 15.3, but ive got better tyres and my clutch in now, now i can work on getting the power down, how do you pull away off the line ? do you put your handbrake on and hold the bite?

Nah, just held clutch just mm's before bite, and give it about 2.5-3k revs...then slip the clutch abit when launching to try and stop the sudden take off spinning the wheels....I tryed loads of different methods but I noticed anything over 3k would just set the tyres alight. Damn open diff is crap

My best at shakespear was a 14.5, i went off at a massive 1200rpm!....i hold the car with the handbrake.

I`ve got a friction LSD gearbox ( vzr N1 ) it improves traction and gave me much more consistent times, all in the 14`s.
