HELLO TO EVERYONE!!

yeah will do!
im already up to six points so i gotta be careful! thats the joys of also owning a fast bike i suppose:evil:

The government make it next to impossible to find what the actual law is on most things - you have to hunt down the original legislation and all the amendments. Life would be easier if they just published the amended laws somewhere but then I guess the lawyers would not be able to afford such nice cars.

Rant over.

Basically the rule of thumb is don't tint anything forward of the middle of the car or the police can force you to remove it/impound the car. There are exact rules on the amount of light that has to pass through the front windows/windscreen but as the machines to test it cost a lot the police and VOSA can 'use their judgement'. There is pretty much no appeal.

Welcome Mart.

Noticed you are a Northerner, you've just missed this months meet (check the threads) You are more than welcome to come to the next.

Last I heard it was an 18% max tint on the front side windows. It isn't worth doing them unless you're 100% sure they're legal. It just gives the fuzz an excuse to stop you

I thought it used to be 17% but now the rule was no tint at all forward of B pillar. Load of bollocks really as the law was based on one accident with a motorcyclist and a car with limo tints on the windscreen and front windows. Don't see a law saying you can't wear sunglasses after dusk while driving.. though that's just a matter of time given the penchant of labour for trying to legislate every single waking minute of our lives (and that's just till they can get our dreams on a database). Thank fcuk we have the SNP here in Scotland, at least we have an alternative to the bollocks those down south are stuck with. Not brilliant but the better of two evils and one no-hoper.

God, I'm getting ranty in my old age.

Tbh, I'm not in favour of front tints for that reason. A mate had his fronts done on a 3 series Beemer and it was bloody difficult to see out of it on a dull day. The rozzers made him take them off as soon as they saw it. It would have been very easy to miss a car or bike with no lights on a dark, wet day.

As for the govt's big brother hold on society - don't get me started ! Alex Salmond ? Please  If you live north of Perth, he's no good to you at all.

yes ive seen the pics from the event. shame i missed it. been a while since ive been over that way.
think i will give the front sides a miss with the tint then! sounds like you can get a bit of hassle for it.

pretty sure the limit is pretty much what all windows are as standard, on a sunny day put your window down and you will notice a slight difference as there is a slight tint on them from the factory, pretty sure thats about the legal limit, either that or its so close to it you couldnt tint it any more.

good thing imo, if someone hit me with blacked out front windows i wouldnt be happy, and neither would anyone else.

nice looking car that mate, love that colour.
