Help me diss diesels

standard gti is 150bhp....spend 1k on a 500 bhp nitrous kit with a 20lb bottle and see what happens :)

as long as you come out the other side, my mate put some in his focus, its just funny, if i become a owner ill join, currently deciding between a gti, ibiza cupra, or 25gti.

You'l obviously get a biased opinion from here, but it's good to see that people are considering them and doing research first.

cheers, matt, what everyone says is to testdrive all of them and see what i think. Im not bothered about the facts its a almera (i am a rover owner atm lol) I actually like having cars people dont know about or think are rubbish and changing their minds either when they are in the car, or outside trying to have a little race

Well i'd say you sound like an Almera owner already. That is what is appealing about it as that it's relatively unknown.

And the engines take well to breathing mods if your still wanting more, judging by ure post I'd say you are.

But have a search and look at other members cars to see what they are capable of.

Ye have doen bit of homework, I actually almost everything about the almera except for the front end and the effort of finding a rust free one.
Besides that im pretty capable with cars, so would get my hands dirty, plus its a jap car so it can go on forever, the main reason why Im interested in one.

Power wont be my first concern, currently driving a 110BHP car and I think 150 will be plenty to begin with, so suspension is first stop, then bit of visual customising, followed by exhaust and induction. After that itll depend on money, job and petrol prices as to what i will do

just to add, we dont diss diesels here either. our resident god of smokey torque thumpers will be along to thank my post soon no doubt.

Rovers/MGs can be made to be bloody fast fairly cheaply, just a question of reliability and personal taste.
My friends 1.4 MGZR would spank my SRi if he could ever get the nerve to change gear above 3k revs.
Standard GTis aren't amazing. A few choice mods here and there make them very nice cars. To be honest though, as all round cars N15s are very nice to drive, I abuse my SRi every day and it keeps going, great round corners, it looks how I want it to, its as fast as I want it to be at the moment (No really, it is), and it can carry a shedload of stuff. Once the rust issue is dealt with you're onto a winner :)

i actually like cupra R's and they can be made into weapons, plus they are german so cant go wrong really, endless amounts of tuning bits and bobs for the 1.8T motor

we have a 450ish hp GT3071R powered one around here and its mental

rover errrrrrm NO

almera GTi errrrrrrm YES

That SEAT is nce, but cannot afford a facelift, still same as MK2 underneath, oh and thanks for the extremely genuine answers haha.

According to people on the MG forum you are all weed smoking drug dealers and Ibiza owners are all chavs, sounds great.

lol it's funny how owners of cars get grouped into a stereotype. Not sure where that one came from for us from the MG lot

Seriously though, I havnt owned a GTi but have driven one n/a modified and turbo and they're very good cars. Underrated so should fit the bill for you in that respect too :). Not to mention that you'd be a part of club with some seriously sound bunch of boys and girls. All the meets I go to are brilliant in more ways than just sharing knowledge and showing off cars :).
