Help me diss diesels

lol it's funny how owners of cars get grouped into a stereotype. Not sure where that one came from for us from the MG lot

Seriously though, I havnt owned a GTi but have driven one n/a modified and turbo and they're very good cars. Underrated so should fit the bill for you in that respect too :). Not to mention that you'd be a part of club with some seriously sound bunch of boys and girls. All the meets I go to are brilliant in more ways than just sharing knowledge and showing off cars :).

Plus everyone knows we have the best skunk.

That SEAT is nce, but cannot afford a facelift, still same as MK2 underneath, oh and thanks for the extremely genuine answers haha.

According to people on the MG forum you are all weed smoking drug dealers and Ibiza owners are all chavs, sounds great.

I thought we were stereotyped as indian takeaway delivery drivers? X

1K should give you a filter, header, cat-back and cams if you`re lucky. This would yield about 170ish HP. ......a few more mods like pullys, decat, remap 180hp. Beyond that N/A tuning becomes expensive, so you can either go down the F/I or VE engine swap route.

I think they`re great cars as standard ( if you get a good un ). They need to be reved well over 4k to get the best from them, so bare this in mind on a test drive. :)

Thanks for the support, well I would say you lot seem much more easy going than the MG owners, plus a little younger :) I was gonna go to the north east meet but was in Nottingham at the time, will have to try and get myself to the next one.

personally if i was you, id buy a 03- almera N16 sxe DCi 136bhp and 220lbft or torque,
the N16 in this model/trim has stability control/traction control, ive been in on on coilovers and mildly tuned, and it handles far better than a gti (on coilovers), and has the torque to blitz chavmobiles off the traffic lights!

also gets you great MPG, and quiet, so you dont have to worry about rising fuel costs to mod it

This one of the best things about being a member here and owning the almera, i have never found a forum that is so helpful and such a laugh to. Definately a big plus for the car.

The funniest thing is trying to explain it to anyone outside the AOC though. Bring on Nunny!

haha, yeah i dont really tell my mates lol, theyll just think WTF! looser! haha
altough once they do come to a meet and i tellthem about the almeras they become a bit more interested, :)

even more so when i had my turbo almera
pretty much the fastest fwd car in my town :)

hey mate , personally ive driven two ZR's 1.8 160bhp , and 1.4 105+<(slow as fuck), cant imagine a 25 would be far off! and i was not happy with them at all,i felt like they were going to go wrong when i put my foot down !and didnt drive any where near how well my gti does!

i have a few simple mods, air filter, ss manifold and a lightweight flywheel, lowered and 17" light weight alloys!. and i have to say i'm proud of it when i'm pissing over ibiza Gti's and corsa's and well... a lot of cars really!

almera's are grandad cars in my town , but everyone gennerally likes it!

Id go with the ibiza cupra if its the 1.8 T one, i think you'll struggle to find a comfortable n15 at this age now. It'll be cheaper to upgrade as well

Ive made few good mates of other forums, so im up for meets, even though like mentioned, my uni mates think its sad. I dont care, as for my car currently its the same as a ZR 105, but with few mods. It was the first car i bought 3years ago and tbf its been good, was fastest thing i could get insured on at the time, now im turning 21 with 1year NCB which means i can upgrade, as for the diesel suggestion or cupra 1.8T are well out my price range, only have 1k to buy the car, then maybe 500 to make few mods.

you could probably find a nice gti for that money!

As said the GTi's are seriously understated cars. Most people seem them and pass them off because its a nissan. The SR20 is prob one of the most successful engines nissan have made, can be modded with decent power gains fairly easily, and whats more it will never go wrong even with a lot of abuse. Turbo'd they are beast's.
overall its a underdog a lot of people try it a lights and end up looking very silly.
Spend a bit of time searching here, pistonheads and autotrader and youll find a decent one.
