Hey guys, new GTi owner!!

Hey everybody. First post on the forum. My name is Thomas, I'm from the Netherlands and I bought a red Almera GTi N15 about 10 days ago. It's a 1996, with 187.000 kilometers but still going strong. I need to get a Photobucket account or something, since I don't think it's possible to upload images to the forum.
Nothing done with the car yet, and I'm planning on keeping it pretty much original. No body-mods or engine mods, though I might put in a K&N 57i set and a Sebring muffler. Also planning on adding some clear side-turnsignals.
I do wanna buy some new rims, because the 17" OZ's have some damage on them. I was thinking about these DOTZ Daytona's, either polished or black. What do you guys think, do they suite an Almera??

Welcome to the forum.

Where abouts in the Netherlands are you from?

i reckon the black wheels will suit the car better.

The north, province of Groningen.

Yeah, the black with silver line seems to work with the red. But I kinda like the simple polished look aswell. Still not sure. It's gonna take a few months anyway. I still think it's a pitty the OZ's are damaged, they really work with the car. :(

Eire, truckingracer, thanks for welcome. I'm really leaning towards the black ones myself.
Right now I'm gonna have to get a photobucket account to I can add pics. :)

Hey guys, got some pics!!

Those are testdrive plates, if that's what you mean with trade plates. Basicly, it means the car is being used for a test-drive. Legal stuff and such. :)

BTW, the red Mazda 323 in the back? That's my old car, traded it in for the GTi, with some cash ofcourse. :D

hehehe

Part of me is considering going for an original Nissan GTi body-kit, but I'm not a big fan of body-kits in general. Some simple skirts maybe....

I say some skirts and rear lip, keep the black rubber front lip.

get those wheels aswel and it'll look really good.

Kieran, I see what you mean.

I'll have to see if my local Nissan dealer can get a hold of skirts and rearlip. I'd prefer original Nissan.

hi thomas, if you like the wheels that are on the car at the moment is it not possible for you to get them repaired? im sure you could borrow some wheels off someone for a few days while your wheels get repaired, should cost a lot less than buying new wheels as well!

looks like a really nice example of a gti, welcome to the club!

Hey Tommo. I suppose I could, but an extra set of wheels for the winter isn't such a bad thing either. Slippery roads and such... ;) So a set of wheels with a little damage isn't a bad thing by then. :)

Thanks Andy, glad to be here. :)

I'm about to head off to inquire about the new rims, price and stuff. Honoustly, just any excuse to take the GTi for a ride. :D

Welcome to da Club AOC, nice clean car you have there. That first photo looks like the 4x4 rolling off your bonnet :)
Yeah I'd vote for the black rims. Its a good colour to offset the chassis.

Thanks man! Haven't gotten a qoute on the wheels yet, but I'm guessing a good 1000-1100 euro's, depending on the tires ofcourse. I'd prefer Dunlop SP9000. That's what I'm driving with now. I might try and get those tires on the new rimes, since the sizes would be the same I think. Would save me some cash. :)

My mate and me just washed our cars and made a few photo's. He drives a beauty of a black Swift GTi. I'll post the photo's as soon as he mails them. :)
