HID lights

thinking of upgrading my lights to hid come the new year as to be honest i find the almera headlights shockingly shite.......

any 1 got a guide to doing this?

yeh man im plannin the same you can get em off ebay and they r suposed to be plug and play , you just plug the plug what normaly connects to your bulbs to the ballasts then put hid bulb in and connect ballasts to batery and earth and your laughin.
BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET A HIGH / LOW (DIP / DIM) KIT AND NOT TOO BLUE OR YOU COULD HAVE PROBLEMS SUCH AS ALWAYS ON MAIN BEAM (NOT GOOD),NO MAIN BEAM (ALSO NOT GOOD), MOT FAILIURE AND POSSIBLE PIGGY PROBLEMS.
as you can see ive done a bit of recearch i still need to know more though .
hope i was some help mate

really easy to fit. I fitted a set on a celica, my almera, Focus, and help fit them to a BMW and Audi. some kits come with relays some kits don't my kit never came with a relay. but I had a problem with one light flashing like a strobe when my engine was not on I then brought the relay kit and then its worked perfect ever since. (I used H7's on my car but I think the N15's use H4 and you will get a relay with that)

you think almera ones are crap, should try driving a sunny at night!

This is one mod i will def be doing soon but for now ive got 80w lamps, they dont blind people before anyone says

my headlamps are good when they are clean! to be honest you can (i say can in the loosest term possible) use higher wattage bulbs to get a brighter headlamp. to be honest if your headlights are set correctly (not like most astra drivers headlamps one points north one points south) you should be able to use the higher wattage bulbs without dazzling on coming motorists.

dunno how mine are setup there fine for own driving i just want the extra range for when i drive country lanes to work.

when i used to have my punto gt i got round it because the high and low beam were h1 bulbs and seperate so id have legally brightest for normal then 100w rally bulbs for high beam, lit me up like a fucking lighthouse :D

yup got some H4s with HI/LO on em .....spent more time trying to hide the wiring then fitting the buggers... :P really are that simple.... :)

tell me about it fitting it is not a problem without the relay but once you got the relay you need to hide the wiring lol. my mate said uprate the fuse from 10-15 I think it was or 15-20 but I thorght forget that what happends if it sets the wiring on fire

The HID kits i sell through work are very simple to install like all kits. However please be aware that in the UK HID headlights are illegal unless installed to a vehicle with electronic self levelling beam adjusters and headlight washers.

The washers and electric motors are only for cars fitted with them as standard.
Also - anyone driven a Z32 at night. Shit lights as stock, but not on mine now it's got HID's. I actually thought my Almera lights were very good!

I never uprated the fuse I just brought the fuse relay kit for the safe side and piece of mind that its not going to set my original wires a light

why do you need washers?

would almeras be ok as they have a leveling switch but arent automatic?

Ever been blinded by a Range Rover vouge going over a bump at night? When the beam is dispursed or raised or reflected, in this case by dirt on the light its fucking blinding. Shit from the roads will put layer of crud on the headlight that may cause this.

I think the self levelling they reffer to is in the instance of you going uphill the headlights compensate by pointing down electrionically based on the gradient of the hill.

Halfords are doing 2 for 1 on bulbs, I got some Xenon Super Brilliance Blue for £17.95 the pair. Much better than standard bulbs, meant to look a bit like HIDs, not as bright as the rally bulbs but dont burn the wiring out. Might be enough for some if they cant afford HIDs
