how long will it go?

Hi, My ga14de is very slowly starting to show its age. My gearbox is starting to make funny noises ive currently just hit 115000 miles today, had a new clutch in at 113k. My question is I have a funny rev flicker at about 2800rpm to 3000rpm has anyone else noticed this in their high miler cars?? If so what is the cause i hope its not a stretched timing chain...

wouldnt worry mate me havin 2 1400's one at 47,000 crashed, my si has 94,000 both exactly the same engine wise!

I can recall changing that but it was quite alot of miles ago I would say somewhere in the region of 10,000 - 15,000 miles. Do you think I should go for it again? Also what would cause the fuel filter to reach the end of its life or clogged up!

Could just be the excess crap at the bottom of the fuel tank thats all eventually got sucked up and possible crap from the fuel itself, hence the filter doing its job.

Also may be worth cleaning the MAF too which can also cause that.

Nissan Primeras are also very strong cars in my family we have had 2 primeras one was the earlier ga16de with a carburettor the earlier p10. We then owned a newer p10 which was much better and equally bulletproof. Both got written of though sadly! I was top young to remember much about the engines or cars then I just remember neither had a rev meter haha

My first Primera was a Carb GA16, it had no rev limiter and managed to get 100 in 3rd gear down the A7. other one was last year and was a P11

Crazy that! We moved upto our first primera after owning a nissan sunny C reg for 8 years. The primera felt like a lexus compared too it :D. Mind you our 2nd primera was thrashed by my brother when he passed driving it really saw a hard time and felt quite fast!

I just asked 'cos you said you got like 180 miles from £20 in that other thread, which is great compared to what I got (about 115 at most, short journeys)...:(

Yeah the Primera I had felt a lot better made than my Almera did, and was better rustproofed too. The Almera's engine was stronger though, since the Primera's SR20 went to hell...

yeah, that was a fortnight ago, i was concerned cause i thought the fuel guage maybe fucked up, but i kept driving it and hoping for the best, and yup did manage to get it out of it using Tesco 99

My fuel consumptions qute poor atm. Im getting 60 miles out of ten pounds fuel @ £1.05 a litre. Mind you when im driving heavy footed its alot worse! Is this normal/average consumption because of the fuel prices nowadays?

Also like to add i think the reason people might possibly be getting good economy out of the sr20 is they dont have to constantly thrash their car to get a good bit of power out of it! lol

Right good stuff, I tend to take it easy nowadays ive been passed for while now and have learned alot of things whilst being on the road so no more showing off in front of friends aswell lol. One day I just wish to own an Almera GTi the petrol would be reasonable as i wouldnt have to thrash it alot!

I thrashed my GTI and did the same short journeys and still never got below 30mpg, usually it was 33mpg, and it got a lot better when doing a big fast road journey. I thought that was pretty amazing, and still do in fact. Quite a few folk here get a lot less than I did though.

Insurance is a crap round my area nowadays where unfortunately theres alot of innit and smokey smokes available! Im thinking when I hit 21 hopefully I will own one!
