How many of you have lost your license before?

So how many of us have fooked up and lost your license?

Just wondering because mine could be going soon :(
How long does it take for action to be taken from when the popo send you a letter asking you about an incident??

Had a clean licence for 18 months.

Been pulled once, for going to fast round a roundabout and not indicating, but they just warned me.

Getting any points would cripple me, with this car.

clean since i got it 21 months ago but been pulled 15 times, think they like my face or car lmao!

So would your insurance go up if you got three points too?

Lots. If I did get points, when i renew my insurance I'd be 19 with 2 ncb.

might aswell just pull my pants down and kiss my arse good by.

So how much is your insurance now if your 18/19

I can't get insured on a GTi :(
I got 3 points but it never effected my Insurance.

I heard if you get 6 points then the price will start bumping up.

lol, I was 19 with 1 years no claims when I got my gti with 3 points for speeding too, was £1950 then, 8 years ago that was a lot for insurance lol

3 points i collected in my 1st 2 years of driving have just come off......3 points i got in november are here to stay for a bit. Insurance seem to care less about points these days as the are handed out like sweeties by traffic police. Drink and careless offences are where your insurance becomes a killer, but if you have either you are a twat and deserve it. If you are sommonsed to court it can take around a month for the ban to take effect but you can appeal.

im paying 1600 fully comp on my sunny 1.4, group 7 and my claim wont be added on until i renew in june damn it!

I got a sp50 after that for doing 101 on a motorway, just got off with points though no court. insurance companys didnt like that much.
clean license now though

For me right now as second driver its £1200

 im paying £870 as a second driver at 17, thats on a provisional actually but im pretty sure it isnt going to go up once iv passed, whys yours that high? my area isnt a great postcode, cars kept on the drive and mileage isnt limited to a stupidly low amount, think its 12,000, would shop around if i was you!

have heard that insurance companies take 3 points as a normal thing now and dont penalise it, have also heard that they like to insure people with 9 points as there more likely to be sensible that someone with 6 who can afford another offence. not sure how true that is, think it was in a ford magazine

Have heard exactly the same a few times. On the point of 2nd drivers, i declared all my mods on my Starlet and it was a group 8 and i only paid 742 quid for my 1st years insurance? Thought i was paying through the arse at the time, clearly not!

I lost my licence a few times but it turned out to be in my wallet.

I think it's 2 weeks from being flashed to getting the letter, after that you can argue your case? I think... I got flashed very late at night on an open motorway back in january and still no word (touch wood).

Driving without due care is a max of 5 (my mate took out a tree in a belmont).

Failing to stop? Did you cause the accident or were you involved?

Well some guy was driving up the road imo he was in the middle of the road and didn't really move over for me to get through either, I was stubborn and carried on going, I heard a bump and some glass cracking and I saw my mirror had been pushed in and the glass was gone. Not a big deal I thought and just carried on driving, the ass turned around and took my plates and reported me.

That same thing happened to me, except the oncoming car was going at 50mph and my wing mirror just sort of exploded, his left a big plastic mark down the side of my car which is still there! Also he didnt stop, I did but he was already gone.

Mate, chill out. Its a minor thing, not an accident. you cant always just bang the brakes on and stop in the middle of the road over a mirror! Tell him to go bollocks. What have the police said?
