How many of you have lost your license before?

Im wondering how much damage my mirror could have done though, Its only got a small graze on it....

My Dad thinks they may have had another accident afterwards and are just trying to take advantage of us.

just tell them he was in the middle of the road. no witnesses or anything so it will just get dropped. tell them you didnt stop because it was just a wingmirror.

The furthest this will go is insurance mate, no copper worth his salt would make this a criminal dispute. Its a civil dispute, like noisy neibours or crap parking and not worth police time. Certainly not points mate.

wouldnt worry about it much, when i crashed my mera i took out a road sign in telford went to the cop station and they took some details and i heard nothing from it, dont think they could be bothered with the paperwork to be honest.

no points in over 5 yrs of driving but i got one of those car asbo things about 6 months ago (cant remember what its called but it goes off after a yr) didnt really deserve it but i had 4 tyres which in a mardy cops eyes could have got me in trouble (rite on the wear limit) so i didnt bother argueing signed the slip n ran.

No one was hurt, no council property was damaged, your car isnt exactly a banger or a mangled work van that you dont give a shit about and any officer will see that. The bloke can only try and go through small caims court to recover any damages if you say to his insurance that he hit you and even then he will need an official witness like a copper at the scene of the incident with exact dates and times.......which he wont have.

Fuck him, and if he gives you anymore shit then lodge a complaint right back at him ,that should soon shut him up as he's talking out his arse. Peolpe are allowed to get away with too much these days.

People in your own car cant be witnesses in any accident. They are too biased. So thats irrelevant. Seriously, you aint gonna lose your licence over this so dont worry about it mate.

You might get a slap on the wrist for not stopping at the scene or reporting the accident but, as stated above, no-one was hurt so it aint that serious.

a lad I used to travel to college with, bumped a car at a roundabout, rolled into him, his car was a shitty 205, and the car in front was a old fiesta shit box, the fiesta drove off, so we drove off too thinking he didnt notice or didnt care.
this was a friday
on the monday the bloke came into the carpark, took the reg number, reported to the police, and the lad lost his license for 6 weeks
I dont know if it was just coz he was a new driver or what, but it goes to show

On a different note, naylor just reminded me of something. A mate in his Mr2 Turbo rolled into a MK3 fiesta at about 5 miles an hour and folded the back up totally. The car was a rotbox deathtrap but my mate offered him 500 quid cash to steer clear of the insurance. The bloke refused and went through the motions of claiming......insurance gave him 150 quid as the car was in no fit state to be on the roads so they refunded him the scrap value plus his last 2 months payments. Also goes to show.

the ass turned around and took my plates and reported me.

If someone'd drove passed and smacked my wing mirror off I would have too.

i just got 3 points for going through a red light, or going 60 in a 40, it wasnt clear, but my insurance went down from last year as im older and have 2 yrs ncb. but without the 3 points its 530 with them its 570. not that bad really

is this related to the wingmirror incident?

no shaun it doesnt. but if u read back a bit, there was discussion of insurance, so in this instance there is some relevance to the topic

your word against theirs tbh.

Wouldn't worry too much about it. Insurance won't be able to establish blame either, so hopefully you won't get stung for his claim

Na i wouldnt worry to much mate. nether of you can prove anything so no proof no case.

Just tell them to fuck off :D not very helpfull but may make you feel better

Wouldn't worry about it - it's literally your word against his, police definitely don't use passengers as witnesses in incidents like that. I was in a car involved in an accident with a motorbike (fool on bike trying to overtake huge line of traffic, my mate overtook the car in front and the bike tried to overtake my mate overtaking the car...he lost control and put himself in a hedge breaking his leg and collarbone). I wasn't asked for a statement over that, and that was much more serious. So don't worry about him having a 'witness'.

They'll just laugh at the idiot and offer him a halford's voucher for some t-cut!

Oh and up to 3 points doesn't affect your insurance (pretty sure), 4 years with no points though, so I can't say for certain! Didn't even bother attempting to get insured on a powerful car until I hit 21...now my insurance in £438 ;)

Rach.
