Howdy y'all !

Recently Joined up to see what's going on over this side of the world, thought i'd post up a little info on my car.

Its been my money hole for the best part of 11 years now, and a very enjoyable time. Been through a lot of 'phases' and transformations during its life. Currently in "fun daily" mode driving an average of 800km per week as my work car.

Just about to tick over 100,000km since doing the SR20VE '20V' & 6 speed conversion (which were both new nissan crates). Only thing that has gone wrong since then, was one of the custom billet drive shafts decided it wanted to break. Other than that its been faultless & extremely reliable car, which i guess is probably why i've kept it so long.

Anyway, a couple of pics for you, its not much to look at from the outside, but that's the way i like it.

Last dyno i had done was 118KW at the wheels. Dyno video on youtube HERE and HERE (second video VVL is more audible).

Standard exhaust manifold (P11) to cat, 2.25" cat back.

The short ratios are nice around town and crawling in traffic, but i wish 6th was a bit taller for freeway cruising & economy.

Still cannot believe the mileage you have managed to put on it since the swap!!

Part of the reason for the swap was to increase the service life of the car for a few more years with basically 'new' mechanicals and that plan has really worked well. I enjoy driving it and i guess that's one thing is that i've really been able to make use of the car. If i didn't do the swap, i'm sure that mechanical issues would have started to impact the reliability of the car for day to day use. I didn't plan to pile the k's on as much as i have, but i have an i wouldn't change a thing !

it is my favourite thread on PGA :)

Keep wanting to see you drop some N1 cams in it though :p

HAHAH believe me i've been tempted, but i spend 99.9% of my time on the low cam anyways and i'd need a set of headers to help open up the top end, and then probably have to do some tuning, so one thing does impact a fair bit in the end, and to keep with the initial build purpose of reliable daily driver, i can't see that happening unless its daily duties change. (still very tempting though... haha)

nice swap bud, I remember reading about that bunch of 20ve's you guys sourced and wishing we were a little closer to japan lol

....phone....

... And he's being very modest :p

He used to have the car setup as a bit of track weapon when it was a DE, and he had a daily. He decided to sell up the daily and resort to having his weapon built and designed to be a fun everyday work car that's mechanically refreshed - and here was the result!

He was also the first person to import the first VerII N1 into Aust, which is the one that Paris now owns.. :)

HAHA thanks mate. It was literally months of research before i actually got to putting it into the car (mainly due to the gearbox swap at the same time), but its been worth it for sure.

Plug cover is nice and doesn't scream modified, although i have been secretly wanted to put the centre piece or at least some kind of valley cover on it for a while, but haven't got around to it.

awesome mota you got there mate, you got any vids of it in action :)

Only videos I have are the dyno ones posted a few messages ago. Haven't had it out on the track at all. Being a daily and a stock P12 clutch I never really trusted myself to abuse it and risk doing damage as I can't be without the car. Worst case having to order a part from japan to fix it would be at least 10 days.

from what i heard they were from a place in Norfolk that was mean to build the 20ve powerd Autobacs Garaiya RS-01 that fell through so there stock was sold off in batches... they may well have ended up back in japan then split...

Interesting. I had heard some stuff about them being for the Autobacs cars or a race series that was planned to be conducted somewhere with them which made sense, but almost seems unfair for you guys that so many of them ended up back in Japan. No less than 9 (nine!) engine and gearbox combinations came to Australia, possibly as many as 14 from which i'm sure that at least the 9 that i know of personally were sourced from Japan. Interesting info none the less. Cheers!
