If you're getting a carputer sorted, that screen will be useless, low resolution, not touch screen and probably not even compatible with the video out on your laptop. Buy a lilliput.

i have all that sorted mate, the screen will only be used for things like the digital gagues and gps etc, dont need a touch screen as i will have a wirless keyboard and mouse. and it will be compatable mate i been doing research

ive seen this done on a gti in bradford, the guy works at my local sound system shop. Hes got a full entertainment system in the car...not sure wat size it is but the screen is smoothd into the centre console where the vents and buttons useto useto be, hes got freeview and slimline ps2 connectd up and this sound system is awesome too.

i used to have a screen fitted into my glovebox in an older car. worked pretty well, but smoothing it into the dash top at some point would probably be the coolest approach.

I'd get a JDM centre section with the double DIN and fit the screen lower down. Then mount your control unit where the heater vents are.

On the jap console the heater controls are above the double din unit.

Here's a picture of mine to give you a better idea.

1. True, heater cables don't reach and you'd need to find a workaround (extending cables maybe?)
2. Take the rear fog switch out and replace the rear heater switch at MOT time.

i need my fog lights tho the weather here changes rapidly and can get very foggy at times. arnt jdm heater consoles all done by electrics. also i would rather the screen at the top, cause i will be running digital gagues and sat nav etc on it so i need it visable
