That`s alot of money, more than the car is worth.
If I was in your shoes i`d probably do the sensible thing and build up some NCB.
I`m sure some of the younger people on here will be able to give you an idea of what they are paying, but then insurance is based on so many variables that it may not be a good comparison...
Have you looked at confused.com and the various other websites?

try admiral or elephant and put your parents or other oldies as named drivers. i had sunny gti insured at 19, (nearly 20 actually) for £900

My 1.6 would be £1600 a year...

Subsequently i'm on my parents insurance as a named driver. Once i've had my license for over a year, i'll get my own policy, and get some NCB.

well me at 21 and 1 years ncb, with 2 ppl over 10 years driving experience added is £680 a year, god bless shielas wheels lol

there are certain schemes by some insurance companies where named drivers can also earn NCB and then transfer it over to their own policy. downside is you would have to stay with that company for the next year to see the advantage.

Have you tried moneysupermarket.com? They're pretty damn useful at comparing quotes and may save you hundreds.

Tesco are pretty damn cheap too.

Adrian Flux are cheap but if something happens, be prepared for them to be absolutely RUBBiSH.

with Flux it does depend which subsidiary company you have been insured with as to how good it is. Flux are merely a broker....

Yup I know that too well. They don't know who they insure you with...

Flux are a bag of shite, rubbish customer service that can't help with anything.

Insurance

I started off with a 1.4 Sunny when I was 17- £1800 year.

Now at 23 I've just bought a 2000 Audi S4 Quattro :D

Running over 300 bhp and it only costs me £520 fully comp, with £100 excess.

It is a pain having to shell out for the insurance, but when you build up your no claims bonus, its well worth it.
