Just Got an Almera GTi couple of problems need help!!

Right just brought an Almera GTi at the week end (love it by the way) couple of niggly little problems that I was hoping someone could help me with. The first is that the water jet on the rear window isn't working properly, when you use it you can hear the pump working but no water comes out after a about 30secs a little (by which I mean a VERY little) trickle of water comes out, just wanted to know if this was a common problem and if there was an easy solution. (just checkin I'm not being stupid but there not a separate water bottle for the rear window is there??).

The second little niggle is that when the engine is cold if I'm in first or second maintain a slow speed, and then I ease off the car starts to judder & kangeroo and I have to floor the accelarator to get it to stop, this only seems to happen when the car is cold though, only mods are K&N induction & Janspeed cat back and its been chipped. Anyone have any ideas what this could be.

Thirdly the car can with the Nats Alarm and all the fobes (2 normal ones and a master), & I was just wondering what the Blue button on the fobe is for, asked the seller and he said he always just used the red button to lock/unlock the car and as a result he never used the blue button, so didn't know what ot was for

Thanks

Duncan

The blue button is to disable the interior movement sensors, if fitted, after arming the alarm. If there are no sensors on the A-pillars then the buttom does nothing!

Wouldn't worry too much about the kanagroo petrol, mine does that when its cold too mate.

Sounds like the hose is blocked or something for your rear wash jet. They both work off the same bottle

mine too suffers from the kangarooing.

for the washer jet try poking where the water comes out (two holes) with a pin and then keep trying them. Don't poke them two hard as you may end up pushing the dirt/blockage further into the squirters.

Hey Mate there's nothing to worry about!

Point 1 - Rear screen washer jet is probably blocked. My gti has exactly the same problem - this is not an MOT fail. I traced the clear tubing in the hatch down to the jet itself and when activated the water moves in the tube but not out the jet - It's really awkward to unblock too because of the roof spoiler in the way. best just leave it or the pressure might pop the tube off?

2) This happens to me too sometimes. I think this is more to do with your heavy foot! When the car is first started up it revs higher and richer so any sligth movement will give instant response? as you put foot down you get jolt so suddenly you might lift your foot off pedal only to get a jolt from the car slowing then putting you foot down again etc blah.. blah...giving this so called effect?
I bet this is what it is! Cos i both have experienced these! Anyone else back me up on this?

wouldnt worry bout the kangerooing, mine does it aswell, as for the rear windscreen wiper, mine did this for a while after i didnt use it for a good while, try what cjhawker said and see what happens!

i think some guys on here know how to stop the kangerooing you have to adjust something. mine did this when i first got it and it drove me mad i'm not sure if i got used to it or it stopped? i even had my mate check the throttle cable and he told me it was good!!

kangarooing is normal! thank god! i thought i was the only one! didnt want to post another problem you lot would think im taking the piss! The blue button is to disable the interior movement sensors as hally says

I think the kangarooing is because the gti engine only has one throttle position sensor. The primera's have 2 and don't do this because its read by the ecu better but i could be wrong lol

Thanks for the help guys, starting to like the kangerooing as it wakes me up a bit in the morning :-) .

Tried to unblock the rear washer jet but the thing is a nightmare to get at with the rear spoiler, thought I had done it but now no water comes out :-( so probably just pused the blockage further in :-( don't really need it anyway ;-)

Are we in Australia?

I've got used to it now and find myself driving off in first with the clutch slightly depressed. Try adjusting the clutch cable (on top of the gearbox).

what do you mean its chippped? like what kind of chip I mean, if its a ebay resistor jobby it could be making the kangerooing worse

-The first is that the water jet on the rear window isn't working properly, when you use it you can hear the pump working but no water comes out after a about 30secs a little (by which I mean a VERY little) trickle of water comes out, just wanted to know if this was a common problem and if there was an easy solution. A pipe is blocked or broken somwhere along the car, or, pumps nackered. Check the pump feeds ok by removing a pipe at the washer bottle, and turning on the pump.

-The second little niggle is that when the engine is cold if I'm in first or second maintain a slow speed, and then I ease off the car starts to judder & kangeroo and I have to floor the accelarator to get it to stop, this only seems to happen when the car is cold though, only mods are K&N induction & Janspeed cat back and its been chipped. Could be a sensor giving a faulty reading to the ecu.

-Thirdly the car can with the Nats Alarm and all the fobes (2 normal ones and a master), & I was just wondering what the Blue button on the fobe is for, asked the seller and he said he always just used the red button to lock/unlock the car and as a result he never used the blue button, so didn't know what ot was for-

As Hally said, it's for disabling part of the alarm.

Just noticed what Naylor said, Good question, didnt read that bit.
