Hooray for ultra powerful LEDs ;)

With additional red LEDs attached to the light tunnels that illuminate the needles.

I must say I'm quite pleased with the result! :)

Thanks for the comments :)

SirMixalot, It's a slight spill over from the red LED that makes the needles stay red. Lighting up as you accelerate would be awesome though!

Nicki, Now multi coloured ones would really cool, choose a colour for your mood! lol

giggity lol ;)

And to go with your outfit haha! I bet you'd attract a fair bit of attention wearing that in your car! ;)

Not quite, but it wasn't a quick job - for example, that ebay kit will take about 10 minutes from start to finish whereas this took about an hour.

Basically it's two sets of 3 of these LEDs wired up in series, connected to the normal illumination circuit:
http://www.lc-led.com/View/itemNumber/130 - theyre soldered to breadboard and stuck in place of the normal bulbs.

Then the light tunnels that take light from the normal bulbs to light the needles is cut off slightly, with red versions of those LEDs in place covered over with shrink tubing to stop light escaping.

That gives the ultra red needles with really cool blue LEDs :)

i think you could make some money here dude you could make these little circuits to order with what ever colour leds required then sell them on the forum all u would need to do is work out cost of parts add a %age on for your time and effort hey presto profit
im sure there would be loads of takers

I considered it, but there's two main problems:

1) It needs soldering so i'd need the dials (or a spare set)
2) If I used a spare set of dials, the mileage would be out.

I will consider it in the future though! :)
