My New Alfa Romeo GTV

Hello.

I have carried on in the routine of changing my car every month, and here is my latest.

I've been looking at these for a little while and this happened to put up for sale locally on the day that i sold my old Golf GTi. So i went the same evening and picked it up.

It's 100% better than i thought it would be, everything feels really refined even the gearbox, the only build quality trouble i have noticed is the windows leak air when at speed, but they are frameless windows so is not suprising. The interior is amazing, so sexy and still feels fairly well made, no knocking or ratttling at all.

Yes, of course i have already had electrical problems, the immobilser keeps playing up and not letting me drive sometimes, but it's actually an aftermarket one so can't blame Alfa there..

Oh and i've aleady had an electrical fire.. The battery is too small for the mount and slipped through and shorted out on the bracket catching the amp wiring alight, that was seriously scary as the battery is in the boot.

The engine is absoluting hot, best sounding thing i've driven and it pulls so smoothly, it's actually a lot faster than i thought considering coming from the Almera. It's only got 220bhp and weighs a whopping 1450kg but it seems to go quite well.

Anyway, here are some pics..

every car lover must own an alfa... they're quality cars, not for the performance or reliability, but they have a huge heart about them...

My brother had one of these in red for a while, power is really smooth and sounds good as u said plus they are very comfy, didn't really have any major problems with it

Cheers for the comments, i never used to like them until i stubbled accross them, they seem to tick nearly all the boxes so i thought i would give it a go, but i must say i love it.!!

Yeah i still have the red GTi Chris, just need to get the bumper and wing sprayed, and wait for the logbook to come back.

Its going to be hard selling that beauty at the end of the month

ha ha, yeah this one might be a slower sale, but i got it for a fairly good price so maybe there is money to be made in it. :O

I quite like them still, nearly bought one a good few years back but couldnt bring myself to part with such a large amount of cash that they were going for at the time, the engine noise is the best thing about them like

you keeping the gti? wont say how many of those alfas we have in the carpark at work at the moment....but looks like a good un'!

Well i hope its going to be a goodun, it's got 55,000 miles and full specialist history so it should be okay.

Haven't decided what to do with the Almera yet, was thinking about selling it, but the money i will probably get for it will be bugger all, so i thought i may limit the mileage in the Alfa and keep it.

But not sure...

the tipo is a great car,but at coming up to 1500 quid for cams and pullies,i just cant see the point in spending such an outlay for not so big gains.

i'm tempted by slinging in a 16v turbo engine from a fiat coupe, but they are quite fragile engines, and no one the sporting fiat site seems to give a crap about a 22 year old intrested in making his tipo going faster, but keeping it original looking. all to busy restoring x1/9's and the like. ive tried asking for help and advice on how to keep it going etc, keeping the classics alive, but not a peep. i still regret selling my gti!

jamie, if you wanna sell, cash waiting, let me know.

realised that although it would be awsome owning it, it would be costing me an absolute fortune, maybe one day.. There are too many cars and not enough time/money!! I want to expieriance a bit of everything.

Can't wait until it's the turn of a F355 or a 360 CS. :D
