N00b - N16 computers?

Hi all!

I'm new! :-) I have an N16, SE grade with the super orangy drive computer. Now, I have a question if there are any experts out there who can help!?

How do I alter the setup of the computer? Is there a way? On my previous car (A Volvo) by using the workshop method of holding down a button while turning the key to 'on' three times I could change all manner of options like time format, MPG / kPG, Central Locking Function, Computer default display etc etc

I'm just curious if anyone knows the dealer method of changing these options. Also, I'd like to set the default behaviour of the AC to 'always off' as the AC pump running everytime I want to demist the windscreen is anoyyyying me!! I'm told that can be programmed at a dealer - and I guess there is a simple way of doing it, once you know the magic code!! ;-)

Hi welcome to the Almera Owners Club. I have a Almera SE too. To alter the Settings on the computer in the middle. There are 4 buttons on the steering wheel and there is a up, down, Info and a SCR.

The Button is on the steering wheel (you can just see it in the pic)

Im not entirely sure if its the same as mine is the SXE with colour screen / sat nav etc but turn off the radio, turn off the heating, hold down the info button and then scroll the volume button brings up some menus.

Well, I attempted as suggested, holding down info and turning the volume knob. Nothing new noted... Tried the same with the 'AC' knob... Again nothing.

Tried a few combinations of ignition on and off with various buttons held down, just out of curiosity to no avail.

Did note that holding down the fascia mounted INFO button (not the steering wheel one) starts up some kind of a rudimentary stopwatch type application on the computer, that I'd never seen before! It counts up in seconds, minutes and hours from zero - without the engine running: so different from the 'drive time' display.

So, I found one 'secret', but not much else of interest!!

There must be a 'setup' mode of some type - I can see markings on the LCD for KM/H for instance - but know of no way to set it to display that way!

The plot thickens! :-)

I did do a long trip in an N16 and was too busy fiddling around with the computer that i managed to go the wrong way for about 30 miles :lol:
 
start the engine and turn the radio off. Try pressing the Mod and clock buttons together for 2 Seconds. I think this is only self diagnose mode tho.

Tech, what sort of things can you do with the SatNav version (if there is anything) and hows it done.

sorry i forgotten about the sat nav. they have a button in the middle i am not too sure on this subject :( sorry

I'd like to change the colours of the display from the orange, when you have the lights on.
 
Whats orange ?

You do know there is a day and night mode dont you ?

Found in the settings...

Still cant think whats orange though lol

A few questions for you.

I`ve just been into self diagnose mode on my non sat nav computer & scrolled through the screens, the first thing it does is go dark, then gradually brightens up, then the next screen says SOFT VERO 395 what is this?

The next screen says H2 1665 108--6A, again what is this?

Then the screen goes blank, & then 000 appears in the middle @ the top, now obviously this means no errors, but what do the 2 codes mean?

So anything else we might be able to "play" with on the sat nav version ?

Tech, do you work for Nissan by any chance??? Could you look this up in the dealer procedure database maybe?? I was talking to a dealer main agent this morning who was telling me that many options on the car can be altered!!

The anti-hijack door locking can be configured, you can have the stereo auto-start with the engine, rear wiper can come on with reverse gear if the front wipers are on etc etc

Would he tell me how??? Like f--k he would! :-|

I'd LOVE to play around with these settings!!

In the area of Paisley, Scotland. I think he was talking in more general terms about the Nissan range, rather than the Almera specifically, but he assured me some settings can be altered on the Almera's 'body computer' !?

/Wish I could edit my wife's 'body computer' too!! :D
