N16 Engine Work ?

my opinion is to dynamically lighten and balence the con rods, pistons, crank, pulley, flywheel and bolts. The go and get the head ported, 3 angle valve seats, and possibly get larger valves(i do head work, £250 for a full port and polish, with gasket match) Ported inlet, larger throttle body, or itb's. This is nigh on the spec im building a members engine to soon.

All of that combined would produce an absolute corker of an engine imo, revvy with the torque to match from the 1.5.

Insurace on a GTi at the moment is a no no so by the time I finish the Audio and Kit I should be able to get insured on a N16 with a qg15de+t or a SR20DE

By the time you've spent all that money on the ICE, bodykit, respray, engine then conversion etc etc, you will have spent the cost of a GTi and insurance many times over. You may as well buy a powerful car to start off with - doesnt have to be an Almera, theres plenty out there to choose from.

well I can't sell the car I wanted a SRi but my dad won't let me sell it he rather me have a newer car so I decided to mod it instead

Darren, we appreciate what you are trying to achieve here but the fact that you have to ask these questions tells us all that you really shouldn't really be doing this yourself....

who said I was doing the engine work myself ?

I am only doing the audio myself as I work in a Audio Shop.

I think he assumed you were doing it yourself at the point when you said you were transforming an n16 by retro fitting a 2 litre engine and blending/spraying a bodykit and lambo doors etc - with all this being the plan that saved you money (compared to just buying an n15...i know you're dad said no to that or whatever).

I havent done maths for a very long time but i couldnt justify spending that much on a car when you always say you want an N15

I thorght again, there are not many modded N16's about so I thorght I might mod it instead as my dad won't let me sell it and I have nothing to do with my student grants. there has not been a N16 show car about right?. so I am going to splash my money on it. there are loads of N15's I would love to own one but will not get me anywhere in the modified scene if I was to go into that

i don't think anyone has done a SR20DE into a N16 yet. I know there was a n16 SR20DET.

last year I splash too much money on girls. its time to spent it on myself

As long as you've got a good reason. although that reason sounds to me like 'my dad wont let me sell my car, so instead i'm going to waste all my student grants on it, rather than bide my time and use the money to put towards something better when he eventually lets me sell it'.

No offense, it just sounds like you're doing it because its there rather than because you want to. Perhaps i'm just biased, but i can totally see why there's no highly modded n16's about...

you should be grateful you've nothing to do with your student grants, save them! the amount of money ive wasted on cars, i wish id never passed my test

well my first 2 grants came in and I spent it on girls. sounds silly but I did. I am going to use the money on my car. I want something sleep

who on earth will know that there is a SR20 in a N16 ? no one right or even a SR20DET when I have they money

I just want to see scoobie owners

planning on a show car as I am doing the Audio out
Unique things that I will have

Well the Almera Tino came with an SR20DE I think. Why not turbo that? That'll be a sleeper, plus you can cart your bitches around with ease? Practical and sporty.

ah 1 other thing

my car is worth next to nothing as I have modded it. I broken to Climate Control Screen I called up Nissan and they quoted £1600 +VAT. so I have no choice but to keep it

ah.

slight problem there then. cant you get a unit from a written off one? how did you break it? is it touch screen?
I was trying to mod a screen for my dvd in the original position and then place the climate control screen in the glove with my head unit. thats was another reason I wanted to mod it as I can not find a written off 53 plate thats a SE

all the written off ones I know are S (no screen) or SVE (with screen but with sat nav)

I was thinking of putting in the SVE screen into my car but noticed it was NATS coded so no point. I also found out that the SE screens are not NATS coded so I am safe

just done some research on the Tino (V10) and the SR20DE are used but sadly all of them are automatic no manual http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/Review.aspx?model=635&page=7

this gave me a idea because if I am lucky and the Tino use the same engine mounts on the Almera N16 then bingo. < sounds unlikely though
