new and ready to learn :o)

Hi all

I've signed up here for some info on tuning the SR20DE engine that's in the Almera GTi as I've decided it's the perfect donor to fit to my current car.

The engine bay photos in the Reader's Rides section convinced me even more. :)

Think I've sourced the perfect donor too so will post more when I have it but as I say I'll mainly be using the site as a resource for how I can get the most out of the engine and possibly tweak it before / whilst it's fitted to my car.

Cheers
Phil

I've just put a deposit down on NismoSteve's bpo gti. :D

It's going in a 2003 Nissan cube so interesting yes, whether you like them or not depends on your inclination. (Love/hate)

It won't be an overnight or even over a month build but here goes nothing!

Will get paid membership once I've picked the car up.

Cheers. :)

Unfortunately they don't weigh much less than the almera gti, probably the same weight with the air ride and stereo kit I've got in mine. Unless I go crazy and strip the interior out. Mmm...

Taking the seats out is a pretty quick job now I've done it a few times so I can just do that every now and again.

PS please stop mentioning other engines. ;)

I've gone for the sr20 due to the popularity in the UK, lower price, and lots of tuning options.

Even 150bhp out of the sr20 will be more than a 50% increase over the standard 97BHP and it will feel more than that due to the change from cvt box to manual gears.

Engine in the front or rear?

Engine in the front, I've moved battery out of the bay so should be enough space, if there's not enough space and the space can't be made by moving electrical items inside the car then it will be a non starter but the only way to find out is by having a play around. :)

It should be doable. I've just had a little explore through the Cube's family tree and it shares its chassis (I think) with a K12 Micra. So it should have enough space to fit an SR20 in there. you may be a little tight on the pulleys on the drivers side but you would just have to make sure you change the belts before it goes in. Look forward to this.

good luck finding much on there.

They have been done though

There was a well documented one on throttle bodys I remember reading about.
