nissan almera turbo diesel 2.2 hard start

i have nissan almera 03 plate turbo diesel 2.2, every morning is giving me a starting problem.it starts off fine but then cuts off after 5secs. but after few attempts it will start aslong i have my foot on the accelrator. once the engine is warm it will start without any problem. i have also replaced my glow plugs, but today again it came back with the same fault. My car has special long glow plugs cost around 100 pounds. can anyone please help me or tell me what to do ?

thanks
zee

dunno if this helps but is it somethin to do with the automatice choke? do they even have them i'm not sure but one of our vans in work did this and it was somethink to do with the fueling

I had this problem but I relocated my battery to the boot and then the original earth was disconnected. try grounding the engine. you can test it with a jump lead

jump lead on block and then jump lead on negative on battery. if this works then just buy a few 8AWG wires and connection heads and ground the engine.

I was going to suggest glowplugs.... :/
Check the earthing on the gearbox casing as I've heard that can be shaken loose.

I heard that some where but was not 100% sure if that was true so I never posted it down but yeah if its loose put a grounding kit on

You won't need a grounding kit to keep the engine running. But if it is the earthing then just make sure everything is connected ok.

Glowplug relay could be having problems, causing the plugs not staying on long enough? How long does it run for before it dies exactly?

thanks a lot guys for your replies..my car cuts off after 5seconds..i think i should replace glowplug relay..

anyone interested of buying brandnew glowplugs for nissan almera reg 03 (2.2 turbo diesel). i ordered 2 sets by mistake. i put one set of four in my car but have one speare set..

iv had this problem on diesels before, try a new diesel filter and clean the pipes out, if its not that there is a very good chance of it being a diesel pump problem because some have different little parts like small valves that control different things, and im sure most diesel cars have one for the fuel for starting. the other thing is i would guess it wasnt your glow plugs, if they was gone it would spit and bang and pop and eventually start when warm and keep running but if you say it cuts out after 5 secs there shouldnt be a glow plug fault.
hope that helps

ahh thats the tricky bit, most cars dont relise they have the diesel pump fault i mentioned to tell the diagnostics becuase in order to do that you would need to check it whilst turning it over, didnt think that diagnostics had that ability.

I may be interested in the glow plugs but mines a 2001, and I thinks the engine may be slightly different, do you have the part number of the glow plugs and I'll check if there the same

hi there scoobysn7x, glow plug part number J5711026 MADE IN JAPAN HKT corporation, please let me know if you need them. thanks once again guys for your quick replies.. :)

had a very similar problem on mine, it relieved itself when the temperatures increased. But have you tried heating the plugs twice before start and also make sure you can hear the relay click before attempting to crank the engine.

The garage where i work charges £40 for a full diagnostic check of all the systems on the car using the new snap-on modis. I know for a fact that Honda charge £75 for a simerlar service!

If fuel was running back then those symptoms could occur. Cheapest option is a new filter with some nice new seals, then have the pump tested. If its the pump, expect £££, however if the car is fine once its running, this doesn't suggest a faulty pump.

Finally, any noticeable diesel leaks around the engine bay?
