Not quite got an Almera yet

if i was totally honest

look around

you will get a much better conditioned car for that money!

the GTi engine - as stated above in a not so descrete way - is very reliable.

it is japanese, and is built with this in mind, is very very strong engine.

you will find rarely an engine shot a piston etc.

for £500 you couldeasily buy a decent car aslong as you look properly

by the sounds of things you are looking to buy from trade, this instantly adds cost onto a car, as there is many a car being sold privately that you can haggle, view, and get a good price for!

ill stand my new car side by side at the same money spent next week, i know which i would much prefer.

but, then on the other side. it will drink more petrol, purely for the engine cc. but then if you are looking for money saving and economy etc, buy a diesel.

get a good diesel and it will be strong also. better buy all round.

Meh, when I'm standing at the petrol pump filling up for the 2nd or 3rd time in a week (£50 a time) I sometimes wish I had my SRi back.

IMHO GTis are cheap to buy because they are most definately not cheap to run at all.

Also, the year of an almera means bugger all, I've seen Late P2s with critical body rust, and early P1s with mint chassis (Mine :D )

I enjoyed driving the GA16DE, never found it to be lacking in power, and it made a great road trip machine. ALL of my friends preferred the 5-door too, no matter what anyone says they ARE more practical.

Go for ol' reliable GAxxDE.

I also submit that with recent increases in prices of fuel, despite the more miles you get per gallon of fuel for a diesel, there is no financial benefit to buying a diesel for economy anymore.

Also, let me phrase it in a way that instead doesn't justify it at all:
I'm not buying a GTi. Not of any type.

After reading your lengthly and proper posts you patter is boring me and really can't be arsed justifying or defending my post now. No doubt you'll have some kind of comment for this post aswell though.

ahhh yeah, theres quite a few car dealers down that way if I remember rightly!

white dials look great (indiglo) - but it can be an utter pig to fit them!
