no! really?....lol. ;)

thought that was obvious, not only will they bounch out, therell sound crap!

and one point, if you putting open subs in your boot dont fit 6x9s in the shelf

take the shelf out to cut the holes, but dont forget to put the shelf back because the speaker wires wont reach the car!

sod the parcel shelf, use the rear strut brace to mount a sheet of mdf inline with the rear seats, then just put the rear seats down to use 'em.

see pic above

That was where I started anyway, just don't go mad

I'm assuming your saying that because the bass from the 6x9's cancels the sub bass out?

although i once read that that low sub frequencies can damage the magnets on 6x9's. don't know wether thats true though.

6*9's are gay and flappy anyway, get some decent componants.

Besides, why would you want your main sound coming from behind you? tis just stupid!

True,

it's all about the budget though, i'm planning on getting some nice powerful components with about 75w rms each to power up the front and just replacing my parcel shelf altogether with a standard one and not using the back speakers. (Running Alpine typre r's with d class amp in the back).

At the moment the my bass is waaaaaaay too much, you can literally feel the car rattling to bits!

Hi,

Chris told me at JAE, and I forget which Chris it is, that when fitting 6x9 on the shelf that you might want to consider putting a piece of MDF to weigh down the shelf as the you need some more weight to stop the shelf bouncing around and wearing out the rubber stops at the back of car. Putting a piece underneath the shelf or ontop, but under the felt...

Anyway, just a thought I'd pass on what he told me,

Mondeos have 6x8's as standard so it wont have been much work for him to fit 6x9's. Wouldnt like to try it in the mera though. Go with components as br3n says and put the crossover in the door pocket.
