so what do I need to do the prep work with? apart from sandpaper and elbow grease? good detergent/solvent type stuff to get all the grime and crap off is what I mean.

Grrr the picks have gone. just started on the rocker cover i got from rick, i soaked it in an alkaline degreaser for a while then rubbed of the gunk and crap, i went over it lightly with some wet and dry paper. blocked up the holes etc, any other prep work needed???
im gonna spray it black and paint the writing silver.
