RB** Powered N15 - Myth or Reality?

An RB into an Almera would require stupid amounts of bulkhead work...

Yes, they did put a chevy V8 into a Civic in america but consider this - the V8 only has 4 cylinders going back and even then the dash ended up about 1 - 2 feet behind the original position.

An RB is a 6 cylinder engine, 2 extra cylinders in an engine bay of about the same size... Just ain't gonna feasbly happen, unless you started from stratch (i.e. stripped down the chassis), and modified literally EVERYTHING.

I doubt anyone has that much money to throw at an Almera/Pulsar.

And re: the 4X4 comment, 4X4 Pulsars are quite common in Japan, but there's no need for them in the UK so that's why only very few are in the country. They came as stock with a GA15DE and possibly an SR18DE.

Yeh, you can get them in 3 door's to. I seen one got through the auctions in BS7 blue with a SR18DE engine.

I wonder if it uses a similar 4wd system to the RNN14 GTi-R someone will know somewhere. Maybe it will fit. Possibly make the prop shaft longer.

hmmm to prove the possibility of the RNN14 and N15 4WD system, couldnt the part numbers simply be checked on FAST between the RNN14 and the 4WD N15.

Cant see nissan making a new system up just the the N15.

If someone really wanted to go the RWD route with an almera it would be far easier to use a 200sx SR20 setup as it would require less extensive modifying of the bulkhead. Last Redline magazine i bought has a RWD cossie setup in a focus, required a full strip down bulkhead and transmission tunnel fabricating and custom seat brackets, custome engine mounts etc etc.

So the cheapest way would be to get hold of a 4x4 N15, and either pop an SR20DET in it and leave transmission as it is or disable the front and leave the rears active. If i had the money to get a RWD or 4x4 turbo Almera this is the way i would do it

yeah i agree cov that would be the easiest option
and also a 200sx will be better than a rb26 as its about 70-80kg lighter and you can still get a good 500bhp
youll have to uprate the propshaft etc too, possibley some fabricated stronger ones,

There's just not enough room in the engine bay of an almera to fit an RB, considering there's a good bit of bulkhead work required in an S15

However the boot is plenty big :D (similar idea to the mid engined clio but would require stupid amounts of money to work - I always dreamt of doing it to Lola if I ever won the lotto)
