reliabilty of a my dci engine

I`ve heard some nissan diesel turbo units have plastic fins!....which obviously fail. Does the N16 turbo have that problem?

No I've heard that too! God knows what car it went into though. Maybe the 1.5 DCi in the micra?

hey kev i have a n16 2.2 dci 112bhp se only a couple of things with mine first the mas sensor went that was under warrnty so no probs there that was about 65thou miles the most expensive thing was fuel pump and rail had to be replaced at a cost of £1650 which was at 82thou miles but since the problem fuel ecom is excellent and drives much better apparently its a common thing for the pump not the rail also my boss has the same engine in the primera his also went but at a 102 thou but the nissan tech said it maybe down to the previous owner using crap fuel and not serving them at the right intervals but overall they are a good car for a 7 year old car this mot recently was the first one with a little work that was only the brake disks and pads on the rear so not bad and make sure it has a good service history

Well I must say that I have 107k on my clock bought it with 46K an have always cared for it it like a child service wise. I drive it hard like it should be and can truly say that the YD22DDT engine that is in my car is definitely up to the task and has never failed me yet. In terms of the gear box it gets a good working out and has certainly performed well so I can only assume that the dci engine and gearbox is just as good.

Long live the N16 lol

Mmmmmmm...... Me thinks rowdy-GTi is trying to pull our legs here somewhat ;)

Bit of a late reply, no joke. My manager at work used to have an X-Trail Diesel and the plastic turbo fins kept snapping off....eventually it was upgraded to metal.

If you read trader's experiences of X-Trails, they have a known history of failures with the Dci. Honest John & Mike Brewer confirm that.
