Rust!

nah not if done properly - the gel is crap too! get Kurust seems to be the best ive used! you can beat it if you tackle it all! but rust spreads so go past were you think it is and then sort from there!

yours is a white car - piss easy to throw some paint on as its just a can! blends piss easy too! with some good paint :P

cheers lads i will get 2 it as soon as i get a chance. i assume i can get the kurust from halfords? i have loads of primer and i got some qm1 white in a rattle can kicking around somewhere. i will do it properly this time :D

preparation goes along way my friend

id personally (fro looking at them) get a sanding disc on a grinder and use that! it may cause an uneven surface but if you cure it you can get a thin coat of filler to smooth it (or wait until K gets it) and primer and paint that

I`m just going from past experiences. It`ll be back in less than 12 months.

+1, rear sills always go on p10's, mine have been ground back, treated and sprayed twice now and within 12 months it returns without fail, this summer there getting cut out, fabricated and new metal welded in, only way to cure it.

sills are different as they block up the drain holes and store water inside and rot from the inside

arches hold the mud and you can treat the behind just as much the front - do it properly and they can be sort - before it gets to bad were its actually eaten through the metal

surface rust is treatable

grind back - treat the bare metal and re paint - not just primer

yes it would do the job

you should be able to do it yourself really! but if your not confident jsut get someone to do it!

if you do the prep work before hand i guarantee driving past a welding shop and asking someone to just tap it in (if you have already cut the metal and grinded the arch back etc im pretty sure they would do it for a daft £5 or something

You'd be suprised how easy welding is. Welding well is difficult but if you've got a grinder, you can just grind back your seagull shit. See how much it is to rent one for a day and have a bash.

i may do. i have a welder and grinder so i might have a go.

anyway kurust. can i get this from halfords

ash if you are gonna weld it yourself get some bits of scrap metal to practice on first.

mig welding is pretty much point and shoot but the skill is getting it set up properly

you want the sounds to resemble "frying bacon"

too much power and you will blow holes all day long, too little you wont fuse metal properly and it will just snap, too little wire feed and you'll end up tack welding at intervals, too much and you will clog the contact as it burns back.

its a precise art tbh. but the only way to do it is to practice.
