why not get your hands dirty and give it a go yourself? its not that hard!! would recommend getting all parts from nissan and using some good engine oil and not the crappy stuff they'd use in your local garage, will cost you less and that money can contribute to your new alloys :)

haha funny guy, i wouldn't drive a car I had just serviced! :p

nah i was just curious as to what sort of prices i'm looking at for servicing

lol /\

If your car still under warrenty then take it back to Nissan otherwise service it from a different garage or service it yourself.

I am a Stoodent as well can't wait to get my loan :P lol.

£223 for a service  could do that for well less than half the price for yourself no bother at all, probably save a fair bit more than half that price, even most garages would be charging half that

I needed the Nissan Stamp for My Warrenty

any way yeah I am going to service it myself next. but the car should be gone by then. when I get 2 years NCB I want to get a GTi :)

 Looks like I`ve got a big bill coming then!

I`ve just booked mine into Glyn Hopkin @ Colchester (where I got it from) for its 2nd service, (like Darren, to not void warranty) but after it`s had its 3rd service (& warranty`s expired) I`ll be doing it myself.

I`ll deffo be servicing the GTi myself (IF I get it)! :P

im sure your allowed to take it to any garage now aslong as genuine parts or parts of the same quality are used, or is that only on warranty's started after a certain date?

Im not too sure but I just wanted the stamp

I said to them If my disk and pads need changing can i use black diamond they said yes.

but to be honest if they serviced my car stamped it I would not go back to them to get my brakes sorted I would of got some one to do them :)

shit man thats expensive, these dealers take the piss.

then again the only way i can get it stamped is if i get it serviced from a dealer isnt it?

my car is still under warranty does that mean i can get it serviced cheaper?

Officially Nissan cannot insist that you get the car serviced at a Nissan main dealer to maintain the warranty. There was a recent government / DTI thing that stated it was counter competitive / monopoly etc. Provided you go to a reputable garage that can prove all the work was done satisfactorily then you should be OK.

As an aside, I recently serviced my car myself and it cost me £77 plus my time. That included oil, filter, plugs, pollen filters, drain washer, brake fluid, coolant, brake service (clean up and regrease), wash and hoover !
My car's out of warranty so it didn't matter that it wasn't done by Nissan and I wasn't prepared to pay Nissan the £340 !!! for a 72k miles P3 service.

did u get your servcie book stamped for that servicing?

I do my services myself and just write in the book what i've done, im not paying nissan to do something i can do myself and when i come to sell the car, im honest with them about it, id much rather buy a car that had been looked after by someone than one that had been chucked at a garage, who knows what they do to them! lol

Totally agree with young Kelv, :thumb:

Why waste money (that you probably haven`t got anyway), when you can do it yourself.

My dad & I used to service our cars ourselves (except his Motability ones, they were done free :D ).

The only times they ever saw a proper garage was either for new tyres, bodywork reairs or MOT, EVERYTHING else (including a gearbox change to a mk1 Fiesta, (using a pickaxe handle & some window sashcord as a hoist! ) after a driveshaft bearing broke & blew the side out of the casing  ) we did ourselves (I`ve still got the scars on my hand from that, some 15 years later)!

no because I did the work. my car is a T reg so is worth about £4.50 and a bag of Worthers Originals so having a full Nelson Mandella service history isn't really worth anything to me.

£106 labour! :feint:

They also sprayed the battery terminals & the bonnet lock (not to mention the CAI feed pipe & most of the n/s of the engine bay) with white gunk that took forever to clean up!

Screw the free MOT for life (if they do the servicing), I`m doing it myself from now on!

They`re also a bunch of lying :hand: they said car had been cleaned, had it fook! (came out with more dust on than when it went in).

Just cost me £25 for a mini valet @ the local jet wash, but looks a hell of a ot better now! :D

I shall get the turtle wax out next weekend, so it looks good for the big meet! :D

I service my own car. Costs less, and I use better parts. £70 usually does the trick, and it takes about an hour to service the car.

My car was last serviced by Nissan in January (before I had it), and they put that Texaco stuff in my car. Had a little sticker on the back window saying 'your car is next due Texaco super dooper fuel booster cleaner stuff on xx date'. Chucked it
Just hit 86k so service now going overdue. Will do it myself or take it to specialist. Not sure yet.

It's more fun to do it yourself. That way, you know it's been done right and you get some satisfaction from it. You also get to choose the bits you put in your car. :)
