Short SHift

Right no idea where to post this so mods if you need to move it no worries.

any use?

was conssidering buying this..anyone know if it will fit or are they any use?

one i just fitted is similar to this

but obviously for a pulsar and was supposed to be nismo..has nismo on it but that doesnt mean sh1t nowadays with all the fakes out there..the problem is its becoming loser everytime i drive the car..I didnt fit it so im not sure how well it was done but it was done by a fairly reputable garage and he informed me it was just a shoddy product..anyone have any experience of fitting one?
its fine in first and 3rd and 5th but in 2nd an 4th theres loads of play it and its pis$ing me off..is it and an easy job top get at it? can i get at it by just removing the gaitor?

any help be appreciated.

dont quote me dave, but i think a few people from this, and other forums have said that those shortshifters are shite! i wouldnt buy one anyway, plus the prices would be too good to be true
 
I think one of the lads, Kieran with the black VZR from Galway used a B&M GTi-R short shifter in his. I'll send him a text now and see what he says. I'll get back to ya

sound man, yeah gears are in the right place just fell a bit lose...they dont pop out of position or anything just a bit rattley..i dont do rattles it drives me mental..in 4th theres nearly as much play as in neutral!!

200 euro for that b&m one i think il go with that
 
Yea the b&m one is supposedly the best,some people have to use washers where the bolt goes through the bottom of the shifter to either remove or add play to the lever! You have to drop out the cat to get at it!
 
you reckon yeah? boll0x.. the cat is sealed up pretty good..you reckon it will do any damage being a bit lose in 2nd and 4th? I'm leaving it if i have to take the cat off
 
you will find these shifter's are just copies of the b&m one's without the price tag and possibly made from lesser grade metals, the shifter should not alow any left and right play that was not there before

i had my cat off and removed all the heatshielding permanently due to wrattling
 
this ones was supposedly a nismo short shift..could be just fitted badly..it had not bushings or surrounding pieces with it but just the shaft which had 2 bearings in the end of it.
 
the one i bought from 2fast2cool is of high quality is soild and came quickly with alot of fittings and was fitted by an audi mechanic that has fitted several and some of my mates really cheap shifters have snapped, there is no way you can snap mine

tighten the bolt that holds the shaft to the linkage. mine came loose so i thread locked the bugger. obviously the tighter the bolt the harder to shift.

I've got one of those one, works fine... Much much shorter than the stock shifter!

I didn't pay that much for it though... I got it for £16...

yeah i got it for 10 squid sterling..i reckon it could be the bolt as ryhd4 says cos it gradually got loser..cheers lads il get under it tonight and see what the story is

What do we all think about removing the heat sheilds ? I have a Fidanza QS and due to having to move/bend the heatsheild to make it fit, I now have rattle issues. It sounds soooo shite but the bottom rubbers of the quick shift are exposed when the heatsheilds are off. Would the exhaust really get that hot further down by the QS and beyond ?

Thoughts ?
 
i just cut a bit out of the heatshield where the shifter hits, didnt want to remove the whole shield as it was quite a few parts. ive not had any issues after doing this.
