sr20 differences

whats the actual differances between the sr20 in the almera and the p10 primera of the same era??

much differnce in wiring, sensors etc?

the almera is roller rocker, the p10 isnt, the inlet manifolds are different to look at aswell but no idea whether theres actually that much difference in design internally. if its an eGT engine then it will have sodium filled valves which AFAIK the GTi didnt have, meant to stay cooler than standard valves therefore reducing the risk of detonation, although im not 100% if they stayed on the eGT throughout production.

other than that i dont think theres many real differences, no idea on the wiring im afraid but with the inlet manifolds looking different there may be a few different in that area.

thats the original block like1 if ya can tell

dont think it was eGT but not overly sure u see - was unfortunatly already out the car

wrong rocker cover for an eGT an no sign of the bolts being messed with from the pictures so it will be a lower spec engine, cams, valves and manifold will be different to an eGT, aswell as the ECU which has a higher rev limit on the eGT (around 7600 iirc) were as the lower spec engines are around 6500 i think.

no idea if there are any changes further down the engine between the eGT and lower spec engine but there the only differences i know of.

?Thats the 128bhp version then...NPOC pls chime in!...I`m sure a change of cams, header and ECU bring it upto GT spec.

Low Port - GTi - Different manifolds to the Highport.
High Port - Autech - Though I have same Dizzy set-up as the GTi
High Port - eGT, Sunny GTi - Has a right angle dizzy set-up

i thought the term low port was in relation to the inlet manifold, as in, with the Autechs the manifold is very low compared to a normal GTi.

VZ-R VVL - LOWPORT?

etc :)

It's to do with the manifold yes, but also the head design and the way the injectors shoot I think - ie, the angle.

Position and design of the ports on the head? High and low port?

that looks like another of my photos, can see my house in the reflections?

correct me if im wrong...

my engine bay is more liek a mix between the 1st and 3rd picture -

has the oil separator bit at the front of the head!

The Almera is a lowport RR. Yours is a lowport non RR.

There are other differences from the eGT and lower spec engines. The oil pump is a higher capacity/pressure in the eGT. Header, inlet cams and ECU will get you close to eGT spec though.

The high port intake starts off low and loops up and round. The low port starts high and loops down and round.

The low/high port refers to this ;)

Well that's not good is it?

The engine will take in air through this breather filter and the MAF will not give the correct signal to the ECU, causing fueling issues.

Better tell the owner to rectify the problem.

I beilieve I read somewhere the highport has better (insert correct word here, gas/air something) flow but causes more emissions which is why it wasnt used as much in the EU.
