SR20DE vs C20LET

haha, afew of my mates have been in cars alote faster, and then been in a 270bhp GTiR, they all commented how the other cars felt faster, i think its the ride height and the fact you're in a hatchback.

My almera used to be the same speed as a mates non turbo MR2, but his felt so much quicker coz of the riding position and the engine right behind you etc, the mera was alot more sedate!

Agree, my dad's S14 feels really quick. But I can keep up with him until 100mph.

Must be the position, and the lovely turbo whistle that fools you.

Just looked at his post properley.......He calls it the C20LET but describes it as the 2 litre....so with out the turbo, it's the C20XE.

And in that case, there 156bhp and would be a good race between a modded Almera GTi. Even think i would give it a good race.

And Corsa's must weigh more than 1000kg.! Becaues my mate had a 1.4 Sport when I had my Si....And I beat it the 2 times we raced. Unless im the better driver ;)

Sorri i guess u didnt notice the t after 2 litre but then again i didnt put the space in. ur error or mine?

Still valid oppinion

Oh yeh.

in that case if you meant the LET and the non turbo DE then the corsa would win,

But if you mean the DET, then It would be close.

c20xe in astra mk3 beats me almera sr20de tried and tested on a few occasions lol

c20let corsa v any almera be it DE or DET the corsa will win, but mainly depends on traction, as me almera DE can beat a LET astra until the astra gets in to 3rd and stopped spinning lol

This is a very random thread with random questions and random awnsers. :) The important bits have been forgotten like tyre types, LSD or engine mods.

With a GTiR Almera there is no point running the 220bhp as with an uprated fuel pump (£60) you can instantly raise the boost to 1bar and run 270-300bhp.

Im not sure whether the LET can run that on standard injector/internals.

The weight thing would obviously make a huge difference, but in some ways the Almera may have better grip with the extra weight keeping the wheel on the road.

Like has been said, a Micra GTiR would be a better comparison.

Didn't a LET Corsa win last year TOTB FWD? Maybe at this years we will get an answer which is better LET or DET (we already know which ones best)

A LET from what i`ve read can make about 350whp on stock internals i`m pretty sure a DET can do more than that....but both are good strong engines.

The Corsa that was at TOTB wasn't turbocharged. It had a big shot of nitrous though, like 150 - 200 shot.

The reason it did so well was simply down to useable traction.

As for beating it this year...I'll try my best!

Just for the record, the record for stock internals on an SR20DET is now over 630 HP.

The DET has much more potential, but between those cars with bone stock engines, the Corsa would win, simply due to the lighter weight of the car.

That's why I chose the K11 Micra.

830 kgs from the factory...LOL!

Another factor that comes into it is are we talking about going round a track? or in a straight line. BHP doesn't mean jack if you can't get power down onto the track?

That's not always true.

Last year, I spin the tyres till the 1/8th marker and still ran far quicker than any other FWD in Scotland.

I know of several Honda FWD cars that are in excess of 600 HP, and spin the tyres all the way down the track and can run in the low 11's and high 10's at 140+ mph.

Regardless of traction, it can be made up in the latter stage of the 1/4 mile run!

Impressive! Do you see any Maestro/Montego Turbos up there? I had one and knew peeps on the Triple M forum.

Say tho if we put the corsa and Almera round a track, the corsa would be let down by handling even if it did have more power where as the almera (GTi)s handling would be unmatched for cornering capability. But then the corsa would be quicker in a straight line.

When I was referring to the Hondas, I meant a number of cars that I saw when I was in Florida last year.

Although this isn't taken from the Orlando based strip, it is a prime example of what I am reffering to.

I know of one quick Maestro Turbo, that usually runs around Knockhill.

As for a track race bewteen the two, I think the Almera would winhands down!
