SR20VE conversion

also if your using a 20ve ecu and you donot want ot control the vvl yourself, a piggyback ecu shouldn't be needed. If you want to i'd use something like the greddy mss. Info on the greddy mss can be found at:

hope this help's
Thats the one! I couldnt remember what it was called, this is the setup Paul had:

SR20VE engine with Greddy MSS, SR16VE ECU and MAF Sensor

when paul was running his with the sr20de ecu it just made the noise and didnt acutally go any faster, when he used the 16vvl ecu it went quicker when vvl came in but it still needed a different map of some sort as it had a flat spot till 6500rpm.

you dont want to use a sr20vvl as its off a auto box and doesnt rev very high at all

also if you were to do it, use the bottom end off your sr20de as its balanced and the sr20vvl isnt so revving it to 8k isnt good for it

I do like my Autech N/A as you get power from the bottom to the top, but after a while you just feel as if it's a normal car. It's a totally different feeling in my friends S13 200SX, when you hit 5k you can feel it really pull, but then it's got 40lb's more torque than my N/A, which is where N/A sufferes. You'll get the revs, but you will never match the torque with a 4 cylinder 2.0 N/A that you can get from the same engine with a Turbo (GTI-R).

If I could then I'd put a DET in the Autech, but then it would eat gearboxes and tyres weekly. Also I'd have to have a custom exhaust, FMIC and induction kit, which would take it way above the stock 220bhp.

I'd have to use my gearbox, which at the moment is taking 130 odd lb's of torque, imagine it with 250+ - It would just give way.

Front tyres would be gone in a matter of a few months, you'd have to use very soft compound tyres to get any grip with a FWD 250+bhp car aswell.

It's also alot more stress on the car. You'd have to spend a real fortune on it to get it right. Coilovers, bigger brakes etc.

If I was going to go turbo I'd buy an import 180SX, which is likely what is to happen next. I'd loose so much money throwing away my engine, which is rare as hell anyway and it's only on 44k miles!

Look at the video of Rowdy's GTI, that is fucking quick for what it is. Why not just upgrade your GTi engine (if that's what you have) with better engine parts etc. ;)

;)
It would negate the point of having the tuned autech engine in there though...

If I had the money and the knowhow I would turbo the existing engine and keep it on a lower boost setting like what dale is doing with his 1.4.

Or if I had mega money I'd speak to the bull ;)
