Or you could try them octane boosters. the £19.99 NOS Wizards one at halfords is the best. That'll make your mpg increase by at least 10.

it plays a crucial part in the engines efficiency, if it is out then the economy will be low

you need a flat head screw driver, 12mm spanner or socket and wrench and a timing light, i dont think you will have a timing light though?
