time i should post some pics of my gti

butpartsby.co.uk and that brakeparts place i linked to above^ do discs for bout £15+ ish, pads are cheap too and even front calipers are £65, rears are £85;)
 
the discs and pads are fine the garage have done something to the caliper when driving at low speeds u can hear there clunking around and when the car is stopped u can move the caliper by hand
 
They havent tightened it up correctly. There's 2 big bolts on the back, either ones missing or they're both loose. Garage sound like cowboys, that's pretty dangerous to sell a car like that
 
the car was fine when i bought it other than it had sat for over a year and then i took it to that garage to get the few bits sorted new pads and such and this is what it came back like
 
Id take it back to them and complain, it might be that theyve sheared the bolts on the end of the guide pins, that may cause the caliper to be looser (theyre the two smaller bolts on the back of the caliper near the mounting bolts)
 
take it back to them mate! i had a similar problem with a gear box and clutch! if they dont offer you anything just say you''ll be hearing from my soliciter! worked for me!!
 
I recently changed both front callipers on my gti, nissan wanted £240 plus VAT! EACH!! I payed £69+VAT each for mine, they're refurbed and sweet as. It's an exchange for your old ones or you have to pay a £15 sur charge(still bloody cheap compared to nissan!) got em from this place:

Changed pads and disks at the same time, Got all 4 disks(grooved) off the bay for £135, and mintex pads from brakes international.


I finally feel that the car has the brakes it deserves, it pulls up sweetly and straight no matter how late you leave it!;) confidence giving knowing they're there when you need em:D

well good news today i went over to the garage that caused the damage told them what was going to happen if it wasnt fixed..... my car will be with nissan in 3 weeks to have a brank new fully fitted and tested brake system installed by nissan theself and it is coming out the garages pocket :)
 
not bad but for about £500 you can get willwood 4 pots with 280mm discs

I'd be supprised if they just hand it to them to get it done, the garage should do it them selfs.. I don't think they will just pay nissan to do the job when it will cost £1300.. I would keep a close eye on it mate and just walk past the garage and see if it's in there or if it's at nissan...
