Turbo Oil feed question

It's actually a tapered (BSPT) thread on the Nissans which seals on the threads. A BSP fitting uses a soft washer to seal. But we discussed this fitting on SR20forum and someone said it was actually a BSPT thread on the male portion.

Yeah, Its a tapered thread. You can tell from looking at it, that it has a slight taper on it.
The one ive got for syms is as decribed above, female T (BSP), male straight (BSPT), the male straight tapers to a larger size creating a good seal.

Because the turbo needs to drain well. Any backup will cause the seals to blow and oil will be dumped into the spinning turbo. If the sump has oil in it then the oil can't drain easily from the turbo, that's why it drains to a higher point where it can drain properly.

There are electric scavenge pumps that help the turbo drain but I dunno how well they work, you might aswell just drill the block in the usual place.

exactly what i was thinking, and am doing. Then you can use the standard oil return pipe's and fixing's from nissan. one less thing to get custom made!

thanks mark i had a look at the sump today it isnt the deepest of things is it so i understand it now

next question is where do you drill the block ?
