Tyres

T1-Rs are weird, when i first had them on it felt like the back end was sliding out on every bend. They do grip well, they heat up like nothing else!

Reckon I might be going for the 912's myself, don't fancy Toyo's anymore. 195/50/15 x4, £175 fitted from Blackcircles :)

T1-R's for -awsome- dry and decent wet, but a bit unpredictable. Poor wear rate.

Falken 912's for very good dry and wet. Very good wear rate.

Parada's for -awsome minus 1- dry and average wet. Decent wear rate.

what about the side walls on these ?
as the potenza re70 195 55 15 that i have on at the mo have really rigid sidewalls so feel verry responsive (compromising comfort a bit but im not bothered as solid sidewalls = WIN) im basicly trying to get the best match to the potenzas as poss as they dont make them anymore :(

Ring around, places still have them, guaranteed.
I used to run 185/50/15 Potenzas and I was very impressed by them too, as you said the sidewall is very stiff, but this sometimes caused my car to be a bit 'snappy' on the limit, it let go with little or no warning.
I like the bit of wall flex the paradas have personally.
Best tyres I have had personally are either the Pipelli P6000's or these new Parada spec II's.

I'm really enjoying the Eagle F1's on mine at the moment - even thought they're so grippy they've bumped up my fuel consumption considerably... About £190 for four.

...again.

The SRi is dying for some new rubber, I sold the toyos with the GTi today. Got a quote for 4 Kumho KU31 tyres fitted for £212, is this good?
The suspension set up is just lowering springs and gas shocks, I'm selling my coilovers as unfortunately the bank wants a lot of money :( Probably going to be asking for these tyres for a birthday present.
Rowdy recommends the kumhos.

Good all round tryes My Corbs. £212 sounds ok, but without ringing around i couldn`t be certain. Yokos and T1rs will wear out quicker.

simcard said to me that yoko para's and T1R's are the same compound. so should wear approximately the same...

i personally can't rate T1R's highly enough. had some hairy braking moments on the good old city bypass and never failed me yet.

just need to get some on the rear and im happy

I had Avon ZV3's all round on my GTi, no complaints, really grippy in the wet and awesome in the dry.

ZV5's are my recommendation for very good all round performance.

Can only really speak for the T1-R's really and they have a bit of flex in the sidewalls. Probably be too much if you were running 55 profiles on a 15" wheel. When I compare how much tyre shine is missing on my tyre with how much on a similar profile yoko after a spirited run v a supercharged mini with them...there's more been taken off the yoko so I can guess it's prolly less than the parada's.

I know where alan is coming from as with most tyres they are progressive in letting go of grip so you know you can push that wee bit more or wee bit less and it won't get you in trouble...toyo's will grip like hell right to the point of letting go and just boof ZERO grip...the back steps out / front understeers bad. They are -increadible- under breaking as Ross says.

I don't think you could beat them for out and out grip short of expensive semi-slicks. They will wear though.

I would point out at this point that all of the above is an opinion based on pretty hard driving. When driven under normal conditions, there's probably not much difference between many tyres at all. Consider how you drive before shelling out for top spec tyres if you're only gonna be going back and forward to the shops.

Nah this is the first time I've had them, first impressions are good though.
I only brought them cos two of my mates are running them, Guy (you know) with the VTS, and another friend's running them on an RS Turbo, both have had them for a while now, and they're still performing well and wearing well I think personally..

Why not Toyos for the winter lol, at £114 a set they're about the cheapest thing you can buy anyway lol

Suppose you could (if brave enough!) And at that price they are dirt cheap.

I'd definately sacrifice a degree or two of ultimate dry weather grip for peace of mind when it rains.

My statement was for the people who can't choose, don't, buy both!

Well I've had experience of T1Rs spinning up through 3rd in the rain, so I'd like to try something different this time. Have found a place selling KU31s for £170 delivered - free fitting but all the way up in macclesfield :(

Had my parada's since August last year, they were great when the car was on the road even in the winter...done a full day track day on them too. Have T1r's on the back of the Silv and them too are very good. I don't think there's much difference between them. And like Joe said, you deserve everything if you flip off the road while driving like a tool in the wet.

One word though, R888 :)
