What Coilovers have I purchased?

shaggy_master

brapp brapp!
I collected these coilovers today from member on here, Almera_SRi_Red.
He purchased them from somebody in Australia and they were sold as "Whiteline Coilovers", but Rowdy has reason to believe Whiteline never made Coilovers for N15.
I've looked in detail at every unit and cannot find any branding at all.. only a few digits stamped on the damper bodies, which I presume to be codes of some description.

So basically, I've no idea what brand these Coilovers actually are, so I'm looking for somebody who either has, or has seen some of these Coilovers to identify their origin.
Particularly you Australian members.
I tried to sign up on Pulsar group Australia but they don't accept my Email addesss :(
All help is much appreciated.
Thanks, Joe

well they arent whiteline for a start, sorry to say, I hope you didnt pay much for them....

they look to be a mish mash of different parts, ie a nitemare if anything is wrong with them for replacement bits........

I didn't break the bank no, but I'm not really looking for comments about price etc, I just want to identify them :)
Cheers, Joe

Hmm. Ground Control? Looks kinda like a standard strut because of corrosion.

They so look stock however normally they'd have a big cup to hold the spring at the bottom. Anodized orange loosk same colour as K-Sport. As said before they look like a bit of evverything.

they arent a matched set, could be looking at madly different spring rates...

look sorta like old KYB inserts, been sprayed badly though at some point

Just to clarify, they're hardly corroded, but covered in sticky waxoyl. Also the springs on both are identical in colour.. So I'm guessing they're the same brand.

Right, Just checked the codes:
The rears bear no codes at all,
And I had to scratch the Waxoyl off the fronts to read the codes.. but they are printed exactly like this:

IX 80-218F
21415129

Yup that's where Ground Control would come in. Threaded sleave over stock strut. But as you say that ring looks kinda like the k-sports :/ Maybe a cheap knock-off or even someone trying to fabricate the Ground Control idea.

They're not stock dampers at all. Stock dampers have huge spring seats, these have threaded and therefore adjustable spring seats.
The damper rods themselves are also a different diameter to standard dampers.

AH a mystery indeed. Thought maybe the spring seats had been removed to make way for the threaded sleeve. No idea then!

they only look mish mash cos the fronts have red platforms and the rears have gold platforms... could be either a custom aussie suspension company or mega pricey make that no one has used due to the price... custom motorsport setup? top of my head, leda? bilstein? JIC? brap?

edit, helper spring look pretty damn pointless on the rears, i reckon they been on a well sorted track car...

JIC Coilovers I think, had a quick look on google and the colour schemes look similar. They make them for the B14 Sentra. I have them on my GTR and it handles like a go kart

th bottom bracket of th fronts look like standard dampers and th threaded sleeve welded on. Also the rear ones have th standard bumpstop, look homemade to me.

Not all JICs follow that colour scheme, looking on google i can see a few variations and I know my own ones use red lock rings with a red damper

Yeah that was my thinking COV. Also I've seen a similar spring config on some high spec KWs.

Does anybody remember if standard front shocks have the elongated top hub bolt hole for camber adjustment?
I've only just noticed that these have it.
