Why didn't Nissan turbo the Almera/Pulsar N15?

Oh and just so we're all clear, very very few manufacturers these days are making good reliable cars, they're all making stuff last no longer than 50k, alternators, wishbones, exhausts, springs, you name it. The old days are gone.[/QUOTE]

Oh so sadly true. Why would you scrap your 60/70,000 mile GTi for some new motor thats not even half as relaible?! I know if I had a pre 2000 Nissan with low miles, I wouldnt. They just dont make them like they used too.

a little birdie told me that the n16 dci 136 engine is a laguna engine. i recently invested a considerable sum into another n15 and my m8 laughed at me cos he has a 2.2dci 136. I told him his car has a french engine. He doesnt know what im getting. Wait till i see him at the lights in my debadged Vz-R. Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!

It's not a laguna engine and it's part developed by renualt only, and the block etc is only in a Nissan. More Nissan than anything but then Renault have always helped Nissan in the diesel department. Your mate shouldnt laugh at the N15. Is he not part of the club?

french seem to make a good diesel engine like.

306 dturbo etc seem to last a long time.

Yeah the 306 is a goodun. Really responds well to modding too. A few hybrid turbo 306 dturbos over on TDOC which are rapid ;).

ok, its just a common misconception that they r renaults in disguise but i guess its just the block, thanx for the info.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Almeraive <---looks like sum1 on here wrote all this cos its got links to the club at the bottom.

have driven my brothers 1.8sxe a few times and thought it was a very nice drive apart from the seating position. was very close to buying an 06 dci136 6 months back but then decided against it to import an n15 instead, cos i just love em and we dont have to pay sva fees on imports older than 10 years.

have driven a friends stock 306 xtdt many times and found it very nice to drive. i loved the 309 gti too cos i used to drive one.

my m8 is no car or Nissan enthusiast, he's a "Gets me from A-B" type person. so his views are invalid to me. i dont think he knows how to use a computer so :fingers: to him lol.

edk, i really like what you've done to your n16, nice 1.

My biggest argument against the N16 being french.

Ive just fucking told you in the post above its not in anyway designed with renault for the millionth fucking time. they just changed a lot of part suppliers and started fitting 3rd world parts to them instead of 2nd world parts.

I grow tired of this argument

I just wish that Nissan was making cars like Mazda nowadays....

Just look, N15 GTi is the last Nissan's hot-hatch, there was nothing after Primera GT too! Everything is boring, not sporty family-orientated motoring. Until you can afford 350Z, 370Z or GTR.

But look at Mazda - they had great sporty cars in late 80's and 90's after. 323 V6, 323 4x4, mx3, mx5, mx6, rx7 and now they still have something sporty and turboed - 3 MPS, 6 MPS, rx8, and immortal mx5!

Shame that Nissan went different way.

Eh? To me you two seemed to be in agreement?

PMSL

Read my post again please mate....and Simcard's and yours above...and then tell me what it was I meant :).

Bit agressive seeing as that's been my argument AGAINST an N16 being french all along...........

I grow tired of this argument

You and me both. You should have seen the last "the n16 is french so nerrr" thread that got started!!! I was defending it every other post with common sense so it's great that you know 100% :).

You sound like a nice chap though so I'll let it slide :D .

The only one worth mentioning is the Navara. Been in one and it pulls well and looks mean as hell. Shame it's still in the budget range of 4x4s. Nissan just don't give the budgets to their cars, GTR and 370z excluded.

Apparently the 370Zs are a disappointment to drive. According to one salesman at a Nissan dealership ... sold! NOT.
