its supposed to be attached to the alternator but it rusts away.

Dont worry about it hanging down, its drop off eventually anyway :)
 
Progress is coming on really well on the GTi

Having a good time restoring here and Andy has managed to strip lots off in only 3 days

Everything is being done methodically and it's awesome to watch/help

ok, its been a while since the last proper update.

not much has been done on the mera recently as work commitments and lack of money have got in the way, the front is almost fully prepped for the underseal paint etc, need to do a bit of a jig around to move the axle stands to a better location underneath so i can remove the subframe and get to the underside properly but not sure where to put them :/

have been contemplating how im going to carry on with this and am not giving up, might just have to wait a few months till i can free some cash up for materials etc, havent got much spare time atm and theres only so far i can get before i need to get paint/consumables etc, cant start on the back till the front is in a pretty good condition as i will have to turn the car around which means putting some old parts back on so i can roll it out and turn it around.

on the bright side, the pile of parts ready to go on her is piling up nicely, have got a few things to make but will wait till the spring to do that as work is manic atm and want to do a proper job.

thanks to jim (viper) and rob (fossilfuels) for their help and input on this, think its gonna be a long term project haha.
